Odia calendar: solar dates, tithi and festivals
This free Odia calendar shows any month from 1900 to 2099 as a grid of Gregorian dates with the Odia solar date and the tithi of each day — for example Kartika 8 for 24 October 2026, with the month also written in Odia script. Tap a day for its panji: tithi and nakshatra with end times, the lunar month, yoga, karana, sunrise, sunset, Rahu kalam, Yamagandam and Gulika kalam.
Use it as an Odia calendar 2026 or Odia panjika 2026, or for 2025 and 2027 — the Odia calendar October 2026 shows Garbhana Sankranti, Durga Puja and Kumar Purnima. Times are for Bhubaneswar by default; Kolkata, any listed city, your location or typed coordinates work too. The year’s Odia festivals — Makar Sankranti, Saraswati Puja, Dola Purnima, Pana Sankranti, Raja, Snana Purnima, Rath Yatra, Gamha Purnima, Nuakhai, Durga Puja, Kumar Purnima, Kartika Purnima and Prathamastami — come with the rule used and a CSV download.

How the Odia calendar works
The Odia calendar runs two reckonings side by side. Its civil months are solar: each starts when the Sun enters a sidereal sign (a sankranti), and the year begins with Baisakha on Maha Vishuba Sankranti (Pana Sankranti) in mid-April. In Odisha the month begins on the day of the sankranti itself, provided the Sun enters the sign before the middle of the night; a later sankranti starts the month the next day. So Shrabana 2026 begins on 16 July, when the Sun enters Karka at about 23:40, but Pana Sankranti 2025 fell on 14 April although the Sun entered Mesha at 03:21 that morning.
Religious dates follow the lunar months, which in Odisha are purnimanta: the dark half belongs to the month that ends at the next full moon. Tithis are taken at local sunrise. The year is shown here as the Shaka year, which changes at Chaitra Shukla Pratipada; panjis also print the Anka and Amli years. Positions use the Lahiri ayanamsa and the same engine as the Malayalam calendar and Tamil calendar, which use different month-start rules.
| Odia month | Script | 2026 day 1 |
|---|---|---|
| Baisakha | ବୈଶାଖ | 14 April |
| Ashadha | ଆଷାଢ଼ | 15 June |
| Shrabana | ଶ୍ରାବଣ | 16 July |
| Kartika | କାର୍ତ୍ତିକ | 17 October |
| Margashira | ମାର୍ଗଶିର | 16 November |
Festival rules, sources and limits
Sankranti festivals follow the solar months: Pana Sankranti, Raja (Pahili Raja the day before, Raja Sankranti on Mithuna Sankranti and Basi Raja after) and Makar Sankranti. Lunar festivals use the site’s shared festival rules — the month, the tithi and the time it must prevail: sunrise for Rath Yatra, Snana Purnima, Kumar Purnima and Kartika Purnima, midday for Nuakhai, sunset for Kali Puja. For 2025 to 2027 the sankranti days and festivals match Drik Panchang’s Odia calendars, and the 2026 dates match the Odisha holiday list (Dola Purnima 3 March, Raja Sankranti 15 June), checked 24–25 October 2026, except as noted on the page.
Odia panjis published in Puri and Cuttack, and the Jagannath temple’s own calendar, fix some festival days by their own reckoning — Nuakhai is announced in Sambalpur each year — so follow your temple or family panji for rituals. Rahu kalam is shown for tradition, not advice. See also Ekadashi dates and Rahu kaal today.
