Make a puzzle, solve one, or play a quick game
Puzzles are good for classrooms, long journeys, pub quizzes and quiet evenings. These free puzzle tools make them for you in seconds. The sudoku generator builds grids at easy to expert levels with a unique solution, the crossword maker fits your own words and clues into a grid, the word search maker hides a vocabulary list in a letter square, the maze generator draws mazes of any size and difficulty, and the cryptogram maker enciphers a quotation for someone to crack. Each one prints cleanly with the answer key on a separate page.
When you are the one stuck, the solvers help. The sudoku solver finishes a grid or shows the next step, the anagram solver finds every word in a set of letters, and the Wordle helper narrows the possible answers from the green, yellow and grey tiles you have seen. Everything runs in your browser from built-in word lists, so there is no account, no upload and nothing to install.
There are games too, for a break or a classroom reward: hangman, a memory card game, 2048, minesweeper and a number guessing game, plus a reaction time test that measures how fast you click in milliseconds. All of them work on a phone and keep your best score on your own device.
Puzzles for teaching and events
- Vocabulary and spelling. A word search from this week’s spelling list, or a crossword where the clues are definitions, turns revision into a game. Both makers accept any language that uses the Latin alphabet, and the word search can hide words backwards and diagonally for older students.
- Quizzes. The trivia quiz maker builds multiple-choice or open-answer rounds from your questions, prints a quiz sheet and a separate answer sheet, and shuffles answer order so neighbouring teams cannot copy.
- Riddles and icebreakers. The riddle generator picks riddles by difficulty for a treasure hunt or a lesson opener, and the icebreaker question generator offers questions for a new team, a class or a dinner, filtered by how personal they are.
- Difficulty you control. Sudoku levels are set by the solving techniques needed, not by how many cells are blank; mazes get harder with size and with fewer dead-end shortcuts; cryptograms can show a few letters as hints.
Getting more from the solvers
- Use the sudoku solver’s step mode rather than the full answer if you want to learn: it names the technique (naked single, hidden pair, X-wing) used for each cell.
- For the anagram solver, add a wildcard (?) for a blank tile and set a minimum length; results are sorted by length and by common word-game scores.
- The Wordle helper works for any five-letter word game. Enter each guess with its colours and it lists the remaining candidates, with the guess that splits them best suggested first.
- The solvers use offline dictionaries, so a very new word or a proper noun may be missing; you can paste your own word list for a custom puzzle.
Puzzles & Games: frequently asked questions
Can I print the puzzles with an answer key?
Yes. Every maker produces a PDF with the puzzle on one page and the solution on another, so you can hand out the puzzle and keep the key. Word searches and crosswords also include the word list or clues.
Does every generated sudoku have one solution?
Yes. The generator checks each grid with a solver and only keeps puzzles with exactly one solution, which is what makes a sudoku fair to solve by logic alone.
Are the games free to play without an account?
Yes. The games load in your browser and need no login. Best scores and reaction times are stored only on your device, in this browser.
Can I use my own words for a word search or crossword?
Yes. Paste a list of words (and clues for a crossword) and the maker arranges them. It warns you if a word is too long for the grid size you chose so you can adjust either one.
Is the reaction time test accurate?
It measures the gap between the screen changing and your click or tap, in milliseconds, over several rounds and reports the average. Monitor refresh rate and touchscreen latency add a few milliseconds, so compare results on the same device.
