A truth or dare generator with a spinning bottle
This truth or dare generator runs the whole game for you. Add the players, choose a category, and press Spin the bottle: an animated bottle spins and stops pointing at the next player. They choose Truth, Dare or Random, and a card flips over with a prompt drawn from a bank of 300 original questions and challenges.
There are five categories with 30 truths and 30 dares each — Kids, Family, Friends, Party and Couples. Every prompt was written to be safe to play: no risky stunts, nothing that needs leaving the room, nothing sexual, and the couples set stays romantic and clean. Prompts are not repeated until the whole category has been used, and you can mix in your own truths and dares.
It works on one phone passed around the table or on a big screen for a party. Nothing is uploaded: player names, used prompts and your own prompts stay in your browser.
How to use the Truth or Dare Generator
- Type each player’s name and press Add (or Enter). Remove a player with the × on their name.
- Pick a category, and choose how the next player is picked: Spinning the bottle at random or Taking turns round the circle.
- Press Spin the bottle. When it stops, the chosen player picks Truth, Dare or Random.
- Read the card aloud. If the prompt does not suit your group, press Skip — another one.
- Optional: open “Your own truths and dares”, type one per line, and they will be mixed into every category.
Truth or Dare Generator features
300 original prompts
Thirty truths and thirty dares in each of five categories, written for this page and checked for safety.
Animated spin the bottle
The bottle spins with an easing curve and always stops on the chosen player, who is highlighted; spinning never picks the same person twice in a row.
No repeats
Each category remembers which prompts have been used, even after a reload, and only starts over when every prompt has come up. Reset used prompts clears it.
Your own prompts
Add as many custom truths and dares as you like; they count towards the “left” counter and are marked “yours” on the card.
Take turns mode
Prefer fairness to chance? Switch to taking turns and the bottle moves to the next player in order.
Calm when needed
With reduced motion turned on in your system, the bottle and card change instantly instead of animating.
Which category to choose
| Category | Best for | Example truth | Example dare |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kids | Children roughly 6–12, classrooms, sleepovers | What would you do if you were invisible for one hour? | Talk like a robot until your next turn. |
| Family | Mixed ages, holidays, family dinners | Which family tradition would you never give up? | Narrate someone like a nature documentary. |
| Friends | Teens and adults who know each other | What is a talent nobody here knows you have? | Speak only in film quotes until your next turn. |
| Party | Bigger groups, birthdays, icebreakers | What would your entrance song be? | Lead the whole group in a 20-second dance. |
| Couples | Partners and date nights — romantic, never explicit | What was the first thing you noticed about your partner? | Slow dance for 30 seconds, humming the music. |
House rules that keep it fun
- Anyone can skip. A prompt that makes someone uncomfortable is simply skipped — no penalty, no questions.
- Truths are honest, not cruel. Keep answers about yourself; nobody has to reveal other people’s secrets.
- Dares stay safe. No climbing, no food or drink challenges for people with allergies, nothing that could break or hurt.
- Phones are optional. Dares that mention photos or messages are about describing them; never share anything private.
- Mix it up. After two truths in a row, try a dare — or use Random to let the game decide.

Truth or Dare Generator FAQ
Is this truth or dare generator free?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up or download, and works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers.
Are the truth or dare questions appropriate for kids?
The Kids and Family categories were written for children and mixed ages: silly, kind and active, with nothing scary or unsafe. As with any game, an adult should check the prompts suit their group.
Is the couples category explicit?
No. Couples prompts are romantic and affectionate — compliments, memories, a slow dance — and contain no sexual content.
Will the same prompt come up twice?
Not until every prompt in that category and type has been used. The tool remembers used prompts in your browser; press Reset used prompts to start fresh.
How does the bottle choose a player?
In Spinning mode a random player is chosen (never the same person twice in a row) and the bottle animation is aimed at them. In Taking turns mode it moves to the next player round the circle.
Can I add my own truths and dares?
Yes. Open “Your own truths and dares”, type one prompt per line, and keep “Mix my prompts into every category” ticked. They are saved in your browser only.
