Image Compressor

Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP photos by up to 90% without visible quality loss.

Drop images here or click to choose JPG, PNG, WebP · multiple files · you can also paste with Ctrl+V
Lower = smaller file. 60–80 is ideal for photos.
Optional — resizing large photos saves the most.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

Compress images without losing visible quality

Big photos slow down websites, bounce off email attachment limits and get rejected by online application forms that ask for images “under 100 KB” or “under 1 MB”. This image compressor reduces the file size of JPG, PNG and WebP images — often by 60–90% — while keeping them looking sharp.

Everything happens inside your browser. Your photos are never uploaded, which makes the tool safe for ID cards, documents, signatures and personal pictures. You can compress dozens of images at once and download them individually or together as a ZIP file.

How to use the Image Compressor

    1. Drag your images onto the drop area, click it to choose files, or paste an image with Ctrl+V.
    2. Adjust the quality slider. Start at 75% and lower it if you need a smaller file.
    3. Optionally choose an output format — WebP gives the smallest files — and a maximum width to scale large photos down.
    4. Check the new size and the percentage saved next to each image.
    5. Download each image, or press “Download all” to get every compressed image in one ZIP.

    Image Compressor features

    Batch compression

Add as many images as you like and they are all compressed with the same settings.

    Live preview of savings

See the original size, the compressed size and the percentage saved, updated every time you move the slider.

    Convert while compressing

Switch PNG to JPG or anything to WebP for extra savings in the same step.

    Resize to a maximum width

Phone photos are often 4,000 px wide; scaling to 1,600 px can cut the size by 80% on its own.

    Never bigger than the original

If an image is already optimised, the original is kept rather than producing a larger file.

    100% private

Images are processed with your device’s own canvas engine and never leave your computer or phone.

    How image compression works

JPG and WebP use lossy compression: they discard fine detail that the human eye barely notices. The quality setting controls how much is discarded. Between 60% and 80% the file usually shrinks dramatically with no visible difference on screen.

PNG is lossless, so re-saving a PNG cannot remove much data. For photos stored as PNG, converting to JPG or WebP is by far the best way to reduce size. Keep PNG for logos, screenshots with text and images that need transparency.

How to compress an image to 100 KB, 50 KB or 20 KB

    • Set a maximum width first: 1,200 px for 100–200 KB, 800 px for about 50 KB, and 400–600 px for 20 KB or less.
    • Choose JPG or WebP as the output format.
    • Lower the quality slider until the compressed size shown is under your target.
    • For passport photos and signatures with strict limits, crop away empty background first with the Crop Image tool — fewer pixels means a smaller file.
    • Applying for an exam or a government job? The exam photo resizer sets the exact pixel size and keeps the file inside a KB range such as 20–50 KB, with presets taken from official notices for IBPS, NTA and India Post GDS forms.

    Image Compressor FAQ

    Is this image compressor free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of images.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs in your browser using the canvas API built into every modern browser. Your images never leave your device.

Will compressing reduce the quality of my photo?

At 70–80% quality the difference is almost impossible to see on screen. Very low settings (below 40%) can create blocky artefacts, so check the result if you go that low.

Why did my PNG barely get smaller?

PNG is a lossless format. To make a PNG photo much smaller, choose JPG or WebP as the output format, or reduce its width.

Does it remove EXIF metadata such as GPS location?

Yes. Images are redrawn on a canvas, so the compressed copy does not include EXIF data like camera details or GPS coordinates.

Can I compress images on my phone?

Yes. The tool works in mobile browsers on Android and iPhone; choose photos from your gallery and download the results.
