An exam photo resizer that hits the KB range first time
Online application forms for bank, government and entrance exams reject a photo for the smallest reason: 51 KB instead of 50, 230 pixels high instead of 230 wide, a PNG instead of a JPG. This exam photo resizer crops your photo to the exact pixel size, converts centimetres to pixels, and finds the JPG quality that lands the file inside the KB range — 20–50 KB, 10–200 KB, “under 50 KB” or whatever your notice says.
The presets come from official sources, each named with its date: the IBPS PO/MT-XVI notification of 30 June 2026, the India Post GDS online portal and the NTA 2026 information bulletins. The same tool handles signatures, thumb impressions and hand-written declarations. Everything runs in your browser — your photo and signature are never uploaded.
How to use the Exam Photo Resizer
- Take a recent photo against a plain white or light wall in daylight, or scan a printed passport photo.
- Drop it on the upload area and choose your exam from the list — or a centimetre size, a plain KB limit, or “My notice’s size”.
- Drag the preview to centre your face, and use the zoom slider so your face fills the frame the way your notice asks.
- Check the badges under the preview: they confirm the file is inside the KB range, and the byte count is shown exactly.
- Press Download and upload the JPG. Repeat with the signature or thumb preset; “Clean up signature” turns grey paper white.
Exam Photo Resizer features
Official exam presets
IBPS photo, signature, left thumb and declaration; NTA photo; India Post GDS photo and signature — with the notice and date beside each.
KB range, not just a maximum
Keeps the file at or below the maximum and at or above the minimum, whether the portal counts 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.
Centimetres to pixels
3.5 × 4.5 cm at 200 or 300 DPI, 6 × 2 cm signatures and 2 × 2 inch photos, with the DPI written into the JPG header.
Crop by dragging
Crop to fill the box and drag or zoom to place your face; arrow keys work too.
Clean signatures
An adaptive threshold removes shadows and paper texture from phone photos of a signature or thumb impression.
Batch and private
Resize several files with the same settings and download a ZIP. Nothing leaves your device.
Requirements built into the presets
Sources were checked on 24 October 2026. Always compare with the notice for your own post and year — a later corrigendum wins.
| Document | Pixels | File size | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| IBPS photo | 200 × 230 (preferred) | 20–50 KB | CRP PO/MT-XVI notice, 30.06.2026 |
| IBPS signature | 140 × 60 (preferred) | 10–20 KB | same notice; not in capital letters |
| IBPS left thumb | 240 × 240 at 200 DPI | 20–50 KB | same notice |
| IBPS declaration | 800 × 400 at 200 DPI | 50–100 KB | same notice |
| NTA photo (NEET, JEE) | not fixed | 10–200 KB | NTA 2026 information bulletins |
| GDS photo / signature | not fixed | up to 50 KB / 20 KB | indiapostgdsonline.gov.in |
Converting centimetres to pixels
Some notices give a photo size in centimetres. Pixels = centimetres ÷ 2.54 × DPI. At 200 DPI a 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo is 276 × 354 pixels; at 300 DPI it is 413 × 531. IBPS describes its photo as 4.5 × 3.5 cm but asks for 200 × 230 pixels, so follow the pixel figure when a notice gives both. If the notice mentions a DPI, set the same value in “DPI tag” — it changes only the header, not the pixels.
How the KB target is reached
- Too big: the tool lowers JPG quality step by step until the file is under the maximum. If even low quality is not enough, tick “Allow smaller pixel size”.
- Too small: a 140 × 60 signature can be only 3–4 KB. “Pad up to the minimum” adds an inert JPEG comment block so the file reaches 10 or 20 KB without changing a single pixel. Prefer a higher quality or a larger size if your notice allows it.
- Wrong format: output is JPG unless you choose otherwise, which almost every Indian exam portal expects.
Photo rules the tool cannot check
- How recent the photo is — UPSC wants one taken within 10 days of the application opening, TNPSC on or after the notification date. Both want your name and the date on it: use the photo with name and date maker.
- Face size, ears visible, no cap or dark glasses, light background — read your notice; the passport photo maker helps with head size.
- Forms that want photo and signature in one image: combine them with the image joiner’s photo-and-signature preset. India Post GDS asks for them as two separate files.
Exam Photo Resizer FAQ
How do I resize a photo to 20 KB to 50 KB?
Choose the IBPS photo preset (200 × 230 px, 20–50 KB) or “My notice’s size” and type 20 and 50 as the minimum and maximum. The exam photo resizer finds the JPG quality inside that range and shows the exact byte count.
How do I make a photo under 50 KB for GDS?
Choose “GDS photo · up to 50 KB”. The portal gives only the size limit, so the pixel size is a sensible passport shape you can change. Use the GDS signature preset for the 20 KB signature.
What size is a 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo in pixels?
276 × 354 pixels at 200 DPI, or 413 × 531 at 300 DPI. Pick the matching centimetre preset and add the KB range from your notice.
Can I resize my photo for SSC exams here?
SSC captures your photograph live in its application, so there is no photo file to upload. You can still prepare a signature with a centimetre or custom preset.
Is padding a file up to the minimum KB allowed?
The padding is a standard JPEG comment block that viewers ignore; the picture stays the same. If you prefer, untick it and raise the quality or pixel size, if your notice allows.
Are my photo and signature uploaded?
No. The resizing happens on a canvas in your browser and the file is saved straight to your device.
