Rahu Kaal today: Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda and Gulika for your own city

This free Rahu Kaal today calculator gives today’s and tomorrow’s Rahu Kaal (also written Rahu Kalam or Rahu Kal) for the city you choose, together with Yamaganda and Gulika Kaal, the local sunrise and sunset they come from, and a seven-day table. It opens on today’s date in your time zone and says whether Rahu Kaal is still to come, on now, or over.

Because Rahu Kaal is an eighth of the time between sunrise and sunset, it depends on where you are. A time printed for Delhi is wrong in Dallas, and a time for New York is wrong in Los Angeles. That is why people searching for Rahu Kaal today USA get confusing answers: this page computes it for your city, with daylight saving applied. The results are checked automatically against Drik Panchang for New York, Los Angeles and New Delhi (October 2026).

Rahu Kaal is a custom many families keep when choosing a time to start something. This page is for tradition and entertainment, not prediction or advice.

How to use the Rahu Kaal Today

  1. Check the City — it starts from your time zone, with presets across the USA, India, the UK, the Gulf, Asia and Australia — or type Latitude, Longitude and the Time zone, or press Use my location.
  2. Read today’s Rahu Kaal in the large box and the status underneath (starts in …, on now, over).
  3. Press Tomorrow for tomorrow’s Rahu Kaal, or pick any Date; Today brings you back.
  4. See Yamaganda, Gulika Kaal, sunrise and sunset below, the coloured strip of the day’s eight parts, and the next seven days in the table.
  5. Choose the 12-hour or 24-hour clock, then Copy the week or Download CSV to keep the times.

How Rahu Kaal is calculated

Take the local sunrise and sunset, and divide the daytime between them into eight equal parts. Rahu Kaal is one of these parts, fixed by the weekday: the 2nd on Monday, 3rd on Saturday, 4th on Friday, 5th on Wednesday, 6th on Thursday, 7th on Tuesday and 8th (the last) on Sunday. Yamaganda and Gulika Kaal are chosen from the same eight parts by their own weekday orders.

Example: in New Delhi on Monday 19 October 2026 sunrise is at 6:24 am and sunset at 5:48 pm, a day of 11 h 24 min. Each part lasts 85.5 minutes, and Monday’s Rahu Kaal is the second part: 7:50 am to 9:15 am. In New York on Thursday 15 January 2026 the day is only 9 h 35 min, so each part is about 72 minutes and Rahu Kaal (6th part) runs from 1:18 pm to 2:30 pm.

Some printed lists use a fixed sunrise of 6:00 am and give the same times everywhere (7:30–9:00 am on Monday, for example). This page uses the real sunrise, which can move the times by an hour or more in winter or summer and at high latitudes.

Rahu Kaal in the USA, UK and other countries

For the USA, choose your nearest city or use your location: the times follow your state’s time zone and switch with daylight saving time in March and November. The same works in the UK, Canada, the Gulf, Singapore or Australia. Near the poles, where the Sun may not rise or set for weeks, there is no daytime to divide and the page says so. For the full day’s tithi, nakshatra and Abhijit muhurta open panchang today; for sunrise times alone, the sunrise and sunset calculator.
