Dates are calculated for the place shown with the Lahiri ayanamsa: each lunar festival is an amanta month and tithi that must prevail at a set time of day. Regional and family almanacs can keep a festival a day apart — follow your temple or priest. For tradition, not advice. Everything is calculated in your browser.

Hindu festival dates for any year, for your city

This free page lists the dates of more than thirty Hindu festivals — Diwali, Holi, Navratri, Dussehra, Karva Chauth, Janmashtami, Raksha Bandhan, Ganesh Chaturthi, Maha Shivratri, Ram Navami, Chhath, the sankranti days and more — for one year or as a table of up to twenty years, from 1900 to 2099. Use it for a Hindu festivals 2026 list, the Diwali dates for the next 10 years, or to check Karva Chauth 2026 in the USA: choose the city and every date follows its sunrise, sunset and time zone.

Each festival comes with the rule that fixes it — the lunar month, the tithi and the time of day at which that tithi must prevail — so you can see why Holi or Karva Chauth can fall a day earlier in New York than in New Delhi. The table downloads as CSV for a spreadsheet or a printed family calendar.

How to use the Hindu Festival Dates by Year

  1. Enter the First year and choose how many Years to show (1, 5, 10 or 20).
  2. Pick All festivals or a single one, such as Diwali.
  3. Choose the City (New Delhi by default) or use your location or coordinates.
  4. Read the table: one row per festival, one column per year, with the weekday.
  5. Check the rule list below the table, and press Download CSV to keep the dates.

How festival dates are worked out

Most Hindu festivals are lunar: a festival belongs to a lunar month and a tithi, and almanacs keep it on the day that tithi prevails at a particular moment. Diwali’s Lakshmi Puja needs Kartika Amavasya at sunset (Pradosh); Janmashtami takes Krishna Ashtami at sunrise; Ganesh Chaturthi and Ram Navami need their tithi at midday; Maha Shivratri at midnight; Karva Chauth at moonrise. Holika Dahan is the evening on which Phalguna Purnima, after its first half (Bhadra), is current — on the Purnima day itself when Purnima lasts beyond three prahars of daylight, otherwise the evening before — and Holi is the next day. A month in which the Sun does not change sign is an extra (adhika) month and is skipped, which is why the festivals of 2026 come about three weeks later than those of 2025.

Solar festivals follow the Sun’s entry into a sidereal sign: Makar Sankranti and Pongal into Makara, Vaisakhi and Pohela Boishakh into Mesha, each with its regional rule for the day; Onam is the first day of Chingam with Thiruvonam nakshatra in the morning. Positions use the Lahiri ayanamsa, the Meeus Moon and a VSOP87 Sun.

Checks, differences and limits

The rules are those of the site’s calendar generator, which were checked against the Government of India holiday lists for 2026 and 2027; the selftest of this page reproduces every one of its New Delhi dates for 2025–2029 and published dates such as Diwali on 17 October 2028, 5 November 2029, 26 October 2030 and 14 November 2031 (checked 25 October 2026). In 2027 Drik Panchang puts Holika Dahan and Holi on 21 and 22 March, a day earlier than the government list and this page.

Regional calendars keep some festivals differently — Bengal’s Durga Puja days, the south Indian Deepavali on Naraka Chaturdashi, Kerala’s Vijayadashami — so see the regional pages such as the Tamil calendar, and the vrat calendar for the monthly fasts. A festival can move by a day between cities near a cut-off. This page is for tradition, not prediction or advice.

Hindu Festival Dates by Year FAQ

What are the Diwali dates for the next 10 years?

Choose Diwali, 10 years and your city. For New Delhi: 2026 8 Nov, 2027 29 Oct, 2028 17 Oct, 2029 5 Nov, 2030 26 Oct, 2031 14 Nov, 2032 2 Nov, 2033 22 Oct, 2034 10 Nov, 2035 30 Oct.

When is Navratri 2026?

Sharad Navratri begins on Sunday 11 October 2026, with Dussehra on 20 October.

When is Karva Chauth 2026 in the USA?

Choose your US city: in New York it is Wednesday 28 October 2026, a day before India’s 29 October, because Krishna Chaturthi is current at moonrise there a day earlier.

Why does a festival move between cities?

Tithis start at the same instant everywhere, but sunrise, sunset and moonrise differ, so the day on which a tithi holds at the required time can change.

How far ahead can I see?

Any year from 1900 to 2099, up to 20 years in one table.

Are these the official holidays?

No — official holidays are declared by governments and can differ; the calendar generator shows the central government list.
