A free gift tag maker that prints a whole sheet at once
This gift tag maker turns a “To”, a “From” and a short message into a sheet of ready-to-cut tags. Pick a classic luggage-tag shape, a round tag or a rounded rectangle, choose the tag and text colours, add a heart, star, tree, bell, snowflake or gift-box icon, and the sheet redraws instantly. When it looks right, print it, save it as a PDF or download a PNG of any page.
It is handy for birthdays, Diwali and Christmas presents, wedding favours, school events and small shops that want a neat “Thank you for your order” tag without buying pre-printed stock. Because the same text goes on every tag, a batch of twelve for a party takes a minute.
Everything is drawn in your browser from your text; nothing is uploaded and no account is needed. The PDF is vector, so the edges stay crisp at any size.
How to use the Gift Tag Maker
- Type the recipient under To, the giver under From and an optional Message (up to three short lines fit on a tag).
- Choose a Shape — Tag, Round or Rectangle — and a Tag size: small (50 × 30 mm), medium (70 × 40 mm) or large (90 × 55 mm).
- Pick an Icon, a Tag colour and a Text colour. Light tag colours with a dark text colour print best on home printers.
- Set the Number of tags and your Paper (A4 or US Letter). The preview shows how many fit per sheet and how many pages you get; use the arrows to look at other pages.
- Keep Dashed cut lines on if you will cut with scissors, and Hole punch mark on if you will thread ribbon or string through the tag.
- Press Download PDF for the whole set, Download PNG for the page on screen, or Print. Choose 100% / “Actual size” in the print dialog.
Gift Tag Maker features
Three tag shapes
A pointed luggage-style tag with the hole at the tip, a circle with the hole at the top, and a rounded rectangle with the hole in the corner so the text stays clear.
Auto-filled sheets
Tags are packed into a grid with 10 mm margins and 4 mm gutters; the tool tells you how many fit per A4 or Letter sheet and spreads a large batch over several pages.
Text that fits
The “To” line shrinks to fit long names, the message wraps onto up to three lines, and anything that would spill over the tag is trimmed rather than overlapping.
Vector PDF with real sizes
The PDF is built with pdf-lib at the true page size, so a 70 × 40 mm tag measures 70 × 40 mm on paper when printed at 100%.
PNG for sharing
Download the current page as a 150 dpi PNG to send to a print shop or paste into a document.
Cut lines and hole marks
Thin dashed outlines guide scissors, and a small circle marks where to punch for ribbon. Turn either off for a cleaner look.
How many gift tags fit on a sheet?
With the standard 10 mm margins, the grid depends on the tag size and paper. Round tags are 36, 50 or 66 mm across for the small, medium and large settings.
| Tag size | A4 (210 × 297 mm) | US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) |
|---|---|---|
| Small 50 × 30 mm | 3 × 8 = 24 per sheet | 3 × 7 = 21 per sheet |
| Medium 70 × 40 mm | 2 × 6 = 12 per sheet | 2 × 5 = 10 per sheet |
| Large 90 × 55 mm | 2 × 4 = 8 per sheet | 2 × 4 = 8 per sheet |
| Round medium (50 mm) | 3 × 5 = 15 per sheet | 3 × 4 = 12 per sheet |
Tips for printing and cutting gift tags
- Use card, not paper. 160–250 gsm card stock (65–90 lb cover in the US) survives ribbon and handling. Most home printers take it through the rear or manual tray.
- Print at actual size. “Fit to page” shrinks the sheet by a few per cent and the cut lines will no longer match the stated dimensions.
- Light colours save ink and keep dark text readable. Pastels such as the default pink, mint or pale gold look good on white card; a deep colour works if you switch the text colour to white.
- Cut with a craft knife and ruler for the rectangle and tag shapes; a 2 inch or 50 mm circle punch is the quick way to cut round tags.
- For a tag that carries a web link or a payment address, make a code with the QR code generator and glue it to the back, or put the link in the message.
Other printables that pair well
Need the same layout for parcels? The address label maker lays out addresses on Avery-style sheets, the name tag maker does “Hello, my name is” badges for the party itself, and the coupon maker turns a promise (“one free car wash”) into a printable voucher. If your printer only speaks Letter and you were sent an A4 file, the paper size converter explains the difference.
Gift Tag Maker FAQ
Can I make different names on each gift tag?
This gift tag maker repeats one design across the sheet, which is the fastest option for a party or a batch of thank-you gifts. For a different name on every item, use the address label maker or name tag maker, which take a list of names and print one per label.
Which languages and characters work?
Latin-script text (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and similar) prints in the PDF. Characters outside that set, such as Devanagari, Chinese or emoji, show in the on-screen preview and PNG but appear as “?” in the PDF, because the built-in PDF fonts cover Latin characters only.
Why are my printed tags smaller than 70 × 40 mm?
The print dialog is scaling the page. Choose “Actual size”, “100%” or turn off “Fit to printable area”, and make sure the paper setting in the dialog matches the one you chose here.
Is there a watermark or a limit?
No. There is no watermark, no sign-up and no limit beyond 200 tags per download, which is 17 A4 sheets of medium tags.
Does the PNG have a transparent background?
No, it is a white page at 150 dpi, which is what print shops and document editors expect. For a transparent tag, remove the white area in an image editor.
