Print address labels from a list on Avery-style sheets
This address label maker takes a list of addresses — one per block, separated by a blank line — and lays them out on a sheet of self-adhesive labels. It knows the exact geometry of the most common Avery layouts: 5160, 5161, 5162, 5163 and 5167 on US Letter, and L7160, L7161, L7162 and L7163 on A4. Compatible sheets from other brands that quote the same code or the same label size and count work the same way.
Paste the addresses, pick the sheet, check the preview and print, or download a PDF. A return-address mode repeats one address on every label, and a “start at” setting uses up a part sheet without wasting the blanks. The grid is drawn to the millimetre, so text lands on the stickers rather than the gaps.
The list stays in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
How to use the Address Label Maker
- Choose One label per address for a mailing or Return address to repeat a single address across the whole sheet.
- Paste the addresses into the box, one per block with a blank line between them. Lines inside a block stay on separate lines on the label.
- Pick your Label sheet by its Avery code, or choose Custom grid… and type the columns, rows, label size, margins and gaps in millimetres from the sheet packaging.
- Set the Font, Font size and Alignment. Long lines wrap and the size shrinks automatically so every address fits its label.
- If some labels on the first sheet have been used, enter the first free label’s number under Start at label.
- Tick Outline labels and print once on plain paper to check alignment against a real sheet, then untick it and print on the labels or press Download PDF.
Address Label Maker features
Nine built-in Avery layouts
Letter sheets 5160/8160, 5161, 5162, 5163 and 5167, plus A4 sheets L7160, L7161, L7162 and L7163, each with its measured margins and pitch.
Custom grids
Any rows × columns arrangement on A4 or Letter with your own label size, top and left margins and horizontal and vertical gaps — for store-brand sheets or odd sizes.
Fits every address
Each label is laid out independently: long lines wrap, the font shrinks in half-point steps down to 6 pt, and the block is centred vertically.
Return-address and part-sheet modes
Repeat one address on all labels, or skip labels you have already peeled off by starting at label 7, 13 or wherever the next free one is.
Vector PDF, PNG and direct print
The PDF is built at the exact paper size with embedded standard fonts, the PNG is 150 dpi, and Print opens your browser dialog with the sheet alone on the page.
Avery label sheet dimensions used by this tool
Measurements are the published Avery specifications. Pitch is the distance from the left edge of one label to the left edge of the next (label width plus gap).
| Code | Paper | Grid | Label size | Top / left margin | Pitch (across / down) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5160 / 8160 | Letter | 3 × 10 = 30 | 2⅝ × 1 in (66.7 × 25.4 mm) | 0.5 / 0.19 in | 2.75 / 1 in |
| 5161 | Letter | 2 × 10 = 20 | 4 × 1 in | 0.5 / 0.16 in | 4.19 / 1 in |
| 5162 | Letter | 2 × 7 = 14 | 4 × 1⅓ in | 0.83 / 0.16 in | 4.19 / 1.33 in |
| 5163 | Letter | 2 × 5 = 10 | 4 × 2 in | 0.5 / 0.16 in | 4.19 / 2 in |
| 5167 | Letter | 4 × 20 = 80 | 1¾ × ½ in | 0.5 / 0.3 in | 2.06 / 0.5 in |
| L7160 | A4 | 3 × 7 = 21 | 63.5 × 38.1 mm | 15.1 / 7.2 mm | 66 / 38.1 mm |
| L7161 | A4 | 3 × 6 = 18 | 63.5 × 46.6 mm | 8.8 / 7.2 mm | 66 / 46.6 mm |
| L7162 | A4 | 2 × 8 = 16 | 99.1 × 33.9 mm | 12.9 / 4.65 mm | 101.6 / 33.9 mm |
| L7163 | A4 | 2 × 7 = 14 | 99.1 × 38.1 mm | 15.1 / 4.65 mm | 101.6 / 38.1 mm |
Getting labels to line up on the printer
- Print at 100%. In the print dialog choose “Actual size” or scale 100%, not “Fit to page” or “Shrink to printable area”. Scaling is the cause of most misaligned label sheets.
- Match the paper size. A4 codes (L7xxx) need the dialog set to A4; Letter codes (5xxx) need Letter. Printing an A4 layout on Letter paper shifts every row.
- Do a plain-paper test with Outline labels on. Hold it against a sheet of labels up to a window; if everything is shifted by the same amount, nudge the top or left margin in the custom grid by that distance.
- Feed labels one sheet at a time through the manual or rear tray, printable side as your printer manual shows, and avoid running a sheet twice — heat from a laser printer can loosen the adhesive.
- For parcels that also need a scannable code, make one with the QR code generator and print it on a separate label; event badges come from the name tag maker.
Address Label Maker FAQ
Which Avery templates does the address label maker support?
Avery 5160 (and the identical 8160), 5161, 5162, 5163 and 5167 for US Letter sheets, and L7160, L7161, L7162 and L7163 for A4. Any other sheet can be entered as a custom grid using the dimensions printed on its packaging.
How do I separate the addresses?
Leave one empty line between addresses. Every line within a block becomes a line on the label, so “Name”, “Street”, “City and postcode” each go on their own line.
Can I print one address on all the labels?
Yes — choose “Return address — repeat on every label”. The first address in the box fills every label on the sheet; this is the usual way to make return-address stickers.
Why is the text smaller on some labels?
Each label shrinks its font only as far as needed to fit, so a five-line address is smaller than a three-line one. Lower the font size if you want them uniform.
Can I use a part-used sheet?
Yes. Count the labels already peeled off reading left to right, top to bottom, and set “Start at label” to the next free one. The preview shows those positions blank.
Is the PDF the same as what I see?
Yes — preview, print and PDF come from one layout in points. Characters outside the Latin alphabet appear as “?” in the PDF because the built-in fonts are Latin only; the preview and PNG show them.
