A social media calendar generator that does the dull scheduling for you

This social media calendar generator turns a few decisions — which platforms, how many posts a week, which content pillars in what mix, and a theme per week — into a dated month or quarter plan. Posts are spread evenly across each week, pillars rotate so the mix matches your percentages, and festivals and awareness days appear on the right dates.

Then make it yours: drag posts to other days, add notes, mark each one as idea, draft, scheduled or posted, and export the plan to Google Calendar or Outlook (.ics), a spreadsheet (CSV), a printable PDF month grid or a Markdown table. Plans can be saved in this browser and loaded later.

How to use the Social Media Calendar Generator

  1. Choose the First month, a 1- or 3-month plan and whether weeks start on Monday or Sunday.
  2. Tick your platforms and set Posts / week for each; add your own posting times if you have them.
  3. Name your content pillars and give each a share; add weekly themes, one per line.
  4. Pick which special days to show, then press Generate calendar. Press New ideas for a different arrangement.
  5. Drag posts between days or click one to edit its date, time, platform, pillar, idea, status and notes.
  6. Export CSV, .ics or PDF, copy the Markdown table, or save the plan under a name.

Social Media Calendar Generator features

Even spacing per platform

Three posts a week land on days spread across the week (for example Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), never bunched together.

Pillar mix you can trust

A weighted round-robin keeps the running mix as close as possible to your targets; the summary shows actual against target.

Verified festival dates

Indian festivals for 2026 and 2027 come from the Government of India holiday lists; moon-dependent days are marked.

Repeatable plans

The seed makes the plan reproducible: the same seed and settings always give the same calendar.

Real exports

RFC 5545 calendar files (folded lines, UIDs, time stamps), spreadsheet-safe CSV that re-imports, and a PDF made in your browser.

Private by design

Plans stay in this browser’s storage. Nothing is uploaded, and no account is needed.

How the plan is built

For each platform the tool spreads the weekly count evenly: with three posts a week the slots sit at days 2, 4 and 6 of the week, shifted by a seeded offset so different platforms don’t all land on the same days. Fourteen a week means two a day. Partial weeks at the start and end of a month only keep the slots that fall inside the month.

Pillars are then assigned in date order using a smooth weighted round-robin. With Educate 50%, Entertain 30% and Promote 20%, every run of ten posts holds five, three and two, interleaved rather than in blocks. Ideas are written from short templates that match the pillar’s name (“how to”, “behind the scenes”, “product spotlight”), filled with that week’s theme. They are starting points; replace them with your real topics.

Special days included

Fixed-date days are exact every year. Days defined by a rule (Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving) are calculated. Festivals whose date moves are included only where an official list confirms them.

Worked example

A November 2026 plan with Instagram three times a week and LinkedIn twice, weeks starting Monday, gives about 22 posts. With a 50/30/20 pillar split the summary reads close to 11, 7 and 4. Diwali appears on Sunday 8 November and Bhai Dooj on Wednesday 11 November, so you can move a festive post onto those days. Exported to .ics, an Instagram post with an 18:30 slot becomes a 30-minute event converted to UTC (in India, 13:00 UTC), and a LinkedIn post without a time stays an all-day entry.

Social Media Calendar Generator FAQ

How do I make a social media content calendar?

Choose platforms and posts per week, define three to five content pillars with a percentage each, add weekly themes and press Generate calendar. This social media calendar generator spreads the posts across the month and rotates pillars to match your mix.

What are content pillars?

They are the few recurring topics or post types your account is built on, such as educate, entertain, inspire and promote. Giving each a share keeps your feed balanced instead of drifting into constant promotion.

Does the tool tell me the best time to post?

No. Best times differ by audience, so the time fields are placeholders for the slots your own analytics show. Posts without a time are exported as all-day entries.

Can I import the calendar into Google Calendar or Outlook?

Yes. Download the .ics file and import it. Each post becomes an event with the platform in the title and the pillar, theme, status and notes in the description.

How accurate are the festival dates?

Indian festival dates for 2026 and 2027 are copied from the Government of India (DoPT) holiday lists. Eid, Muharram and Milad-un-Nabi depend on the moon and can move by a day; other years show only fixed-date days.

Where are my plans saved?

In this browser’s local storage on your device. Clearing site data removes them, so export a CSV as a backup.
