A/B pairs to test

YouTube Studio’s Test & compare can try up to three titles on one video and keeps the one with the most watch time (desktop, channels with advanced features; not Shorts).

AI ideas — optional, runs on your device

Adds up to 10 more ideas written by a language model on your device — your browser’s built-in AI, or IBM’s open Granite 4.0 model, which downloads only after you agree. Small models make mistakes: every idea is scored like the others.

A YouTube title generator that scores every idea

A good title does two jobs: it tells search what the video is about, and it gives a person scrolling past a reason to click. This YouTube title generator writes more than 20 ideas for your topic from seven proven patterns — how-to, list, question, comparison, challenge, curiosity and year — and scores each one, so you can pick quickly and publish with confidence.

Every idea shows its length against YouTube’s 100-character limit, whether it fits the roughly 60–70 characters phones show in search, how close to the front your keyword sits, and warnings for ALL-CAPS, emoji piles, “!!!” and clickbait wording. Paste your own title into Check your own title to score it the same way.

For Indian audiences, switch on Hinglish or Hindi to add titles such as “Masala Chai kaise banaye? Step by Step”. An optional AI button adds more ideas from a model that runs on your device; the templates themselves are plain code, so nothing you type is uploaded.

How to generate YouTube title ideas

    1. Type the Topic or main keyword: a noun such as “home workout” or a how-to phrase such as “make masala chai”.
    2. Add an Audience and, for comparison titles, Compare with (“gym workout”). Check the year.
    3. Pick a Language and untick any Title styles you don’t want.
    4. Read the list: each idea shows its length meter, keyword-at-front score and warnings. Star the ones you like, or press New title ideas for another selection.
    5. Use the A/B pairs to test two very different titles, then copy your favourite — or download all ideas as CSV or TXT.

    Seven patterns, 60 templates

Written for this page, including Hinglish and Hindi versions. Templates that need a verb, audience or comparison only appear when you give one, so no title has a gap.

    Length meter

Characters out of 100, amber past 70, with a note when a title fits phone search results.

    Keyword-at-front score

100 when the title starts with your keyword, falling about 1.5 points per character it is pushed back; 0 when it is missing.

    Clickbait and spam checks

Flags shouting capitals, more than one emoji, repeated punctuation, words like “shocking” and the < > characters YouTube does not allow.

    A/B pairs

Three pairs from different patterns, ready for YouTube Studio’s Test & compare.

    Optional on-device AI

Adds up to 10 more ideas from Chrome’s built-in AI or the open Granite 4.0 model; each is scored like the rest.

    Worked example

With the keyword “make masala chai”, the generator knows it is a how-to phrase: it writes “How to Make Masala Chai (Step by Step)” (38 characters, keyword-at-front score 90 because “make masala chai” starts at character 7) and “Making Masala Chai for Beginners: Everything You Need to Know”. With Hinglish on, the list starts with ideas such as “Masala Chai kaise banaye? Step by Step”; with Hindi, “Masala Chai कैसे बनाएं? आसान तरीका”.

With “home workout”, audience “beginners” and “gym workout” as the comparison, you also get “Home Workout vs Gym Workout: Which Is Better?”. A title such as “SHOCKING HOME WORKOUT RESULTS!!! 😱🔥” collects four warnings at once.

    What makes a title work

    • Start with the words people search for. “Home Workout for Beginners” beats “My Journey Into Getting Fit at Home”.
    • Promise something specific: a number, a time frame, a result. Then make sure the video delivers it in the first minute.
    • Keep the important part in the first 60 characters so phones show it whole.
    • Let the thumbnail carry the emotion and the title carry the information; repeat neither. Design one with the YouTube Thumbnail Maker.
    • Finish the upload with tags from the YouTube Tag Generator and a structured description from the YouTube Description Generator.

    YouTube Title Generator FAQ

How long should a YouTube title be?

YouTube allows 100 characters, but phones usually show about 60–70 in search results. This YouTube title generator marks titles that fit and warns when the end is likely to be cut off.

Is “keyword at the front” really important?

It helps both people and search: the first words are what a viewer reads and what is never cut off. It is a guideline, not a rule — a curiosity title can still win if the thumbnail explains it.

    Are the titles clickbait?

No. The curiosity patterns tease a real angle (“The Home Workout Trick I Wish I’d Learned Sooner”) without exaggeration, and the checker flags clickbait words, capitals and punctuation in any title.

How do I A/B test YouTube titles?

In YouTube Studio on a computer, Test & compare lets eligible channels try up to three titles on a video; YouTube keeps the one with the highest watch time. The A/B pairs here are good starting points.

How does the AI button work, and is it private?

It sends your keyword to a model running on your device — Chrome’s built-in AI, or IBM’s open Granite 4.0 model after you agree to a one-time download. Nothing is sent to this site, and every AI idea is scored like the others.

Can I get titles in Hindi?

Yes. Choose “+ Hinglish” for Hindi written in Latin letters or “+ Hindi” for Devanagari; those ideas appear first, followed by the English ones.
