A tola to gram converter built for jewellery
This tola to gram converter turns tola, vori (bhori), ana, masha, ratti, grams, kilograms and troy ounces into each other in one step. Type a weight, pick the unit you have, and every other unit appears below with the exact factor. It is meant for people buying or pricing gold in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and the Gulf, where prices and old family records still use these units.
Add a price and the tool also works out the price per gram, per 10 grams, per tola (vori), per troy ounce and per kilogram, plus the value of the weight you entered. Prices are what you type; nothing is fetched, so there are no live rates here.

Tola, Vori & Ratti Converter features
Exact tola
1 tola = 180 grains = 11.6638038 g, the historical British Indian standard still used by the trade.
Vori and ana
The Bangladeshi vori (bhori) equals one tola and is divided into 16 ana.
Price both ways
Enter a price per tola and read it per gram or per 10 g, or the reverse.
Editable ratti
The ratti varies by region, so its weight is an input rather than a hidden constant.
Gold weight units and their values
The tola was fixed at 180 grains under British India, and a grain is 64.79891 mg exactly, so 1 tola = 11.6638038 g. Bullion markets often round it to 11.664 g or 11.66 g. Bangladesh uses the same weight under the name vori. One troy ounce is 31.1034768 g, about 2.667 tolas. The ratti chain (1 tola = 12 masha = 96 ratti) is the common goldsmith reckoning; sources agree on it but not on the ratti used for gemstones.
| Unit | Relation | Grams |
|---|---|---|
| Tola | 180 grains = 12 masha = 96 ratti | 11.6638038 |
| Vori / bhori | 1 tola; 16 ana | 11.6638038 |
| Ana | 1/16 vori | 0.72899 |
| Masha | 1/12 tola = 8 ratti | 0.97198 |
| Ratti | 1/96 tola (trade value) | about 0.1215 |
| Troy ounce | 480 grains | 31.1034768 |
Worked examples
Tola to gram: 5 tola × 11.6638038 = 58.319 g. Gram to tola: 10 g ÷ 11.6638038 = 0.857 tola, which is why a 10 g price and a tola price differ by about 16.6%.
Price per tola to per 10 g: if gold is 1,40,000 per tola, one gram is 1,40,000 ÷ 11.6638038 = 12,003 and 10 g costs about 1,20,030. The reverse: multiply a per-gram price by 11.6638038 to get the per-tola price.

Things that cause mistakes
- A “tola” price may really be per 10 g. Indian rate boards quote 10 g; Pakistani and Gulf shops often quote per tola. Check the basis before comparing.
- Ratti is not one value. The goldsmith ratti is about 1/96 tola (0.1215 g), but local usage and the gemstone ratti used in astrology differ — a gem ratti is often quoted near 0.18 g. Use the editable box and ask your jeweller.
- Ana varies. In Bangladesh, 1 vori = 16 ana. The old rupee-anna fraction sense of “ana” is a different thing.
- Weight is not purity. 22K, 24K and hallmark fineness change the value; this tool only converts weight.
- Troy versus ordinary ounce. Gold uses the 31.1035 g troy ounce, not the 28.35 g kitchen ounce.
