Informational estimate, not financial advice. Lenders also deduct processing fees and may value gold at a lower rate than the market; the RBI rules on lending against gold (as of 2026) cap LTV and require the bullet-loan interest to fit inside it.

Gold loan calculator: eligibility and the real cost of each repayment type

This gold loan calculator answers two questions: how much can you borrow against your gold, and what will it cost to repay? Enter the weight of your jewellery, any stones to deduct, its purity (24, 22, 18 or 14 karat), the rate per gram your lender quotes and the loan-to-value (LTV) cap, and you get the value of the gold and the maximum loan.

Then set the loan amount, interest rate and tenure, and compare the three ways gold loans are repaid in India — equal monthly instalments (EMI), interest-only payments with the principal at the end, and a bullet loan where everything is paid at maturity — side by side, with a month-by-month schedule for any of them.

The gold rate is yours to enter, because lenders use their own valuation, and the 75% LTV default (as of 2026) is editable. It runs in your browser; results are informational estimates, not financial advice.

How to use the Gold Loan Calculator

  1. Enter the gross weight in grams and deduct stones, wax or clasps that are not gold.
  2. Choose the purity and type the rate per gram; say whether that rate is for 24 K or for the purity you chose.
  3. Check the LTV cap your lender applies.
  4. Leave the loan amount empty for the maximum, or type what you need; add the interest rate and tenure.
  5. Compare EMI, interest-only and bullet repayment, then open the schedule for the one you prefer.

Gold Loan Calculator features

Eligibility from first principles

Net weight × rate × purity × LTV, with the pure-gold content shown so you can check the lender’s valuation.

Three repayment types

EMI, interest-only and bullet, with monthly payment, final payment, total interest and total repaid.

Simple or compounded bullet

Many lenders charge simple interest on bullet loans; some compound monthly if unpaid. Switch to see the difference.

LTV check for bullet loans

Warns when principal plus interest due at maturity would exceed the LTV limit, and shows the largest bullet loan that fits.

Schedule and CSV

Month-by-month payment, interest, principal and outstanding for any repayment type.

How gold loan eligibility is calculated

Eligible loan = (gross weight − stones) × rate per gram × LTV. If the rate is quoted for 24 K gold, it is first scaled by purity: 22 K is 22/24 of the 24 K rate.

Worked example: 100 g of 22 K jewellery at ₹9,000 a gram is worth ₹9,00,000. At a 75% LTV you can borrow ₹6,75,000. If instead your lender quotes ₹9,600 for 24 K, the 22 K value is ₹8,800 a gram, ₹8,80,000 in all, and the loan ₹6,60,000. Deduct 10 g of stones and the loan falls to ₹5,94,000.

EMI vs bullet vs interest-only

EMI is cheapest because you repay principal from the first month. Bullet loans suit people expecting a lump sum — a harvest, a bonus — but cost the most if interest compounds. Interest-only keeps the monthly outgo low while the principal stays outstanding. For an unsecured comparison see the personal loan calculator or the general EMI calculator.

LTV rules and charges to check (as of 2026)

  • The Reserve Bank of India caps the LTV for loans against gold. Its 2025 directions, applied from 1 April 2026, allow higher caps for small consumption loans (up to 85% for loans up to ₹2.5 lakh, 80% up to ₹5 lakh, 75% above) — confirm what your lender applies.
  • For bullet loans, the LTV is measured on the total amount due at maturity, including interest, so the principal is smaller than for an EMI loan.
  • Lenders value gold at their own rate — often an average of recent prices for 22 K — and exclude stones. Ask for the valuation in writing.
  • Add processing fees, valuation charges and penalties for late payment; if a loan is not repaid, the lender can auction the gold after notice.

Gold Loan Calculator FAQ

How much loan can I get on 10 grams of gold?

Multiply 10 g by the lender’s rate per gram for your purity and by the LTV cap. At ₹9,000 a gram for 22 K and 75%, that is ₹67,500. The gold loan calculator does this for any weight.

What is LTV in a gold loan?

Loan-to-value is the share of the gold’s value you can borrow. 75% is the default here; RBI rules allow up to 85% for small loans from 2026 — your lender decides within the cap.

Is a bullet repayment gold loan cheaper than EMI?

No. With a bullet loan the whole principal is outstanding until the end, so you pay more interest than with an EMI at the same rate.

Does 18 K jewellery get a gold loan?

Many lenders accept 18 K and above; some take 14 K. The value is lower because only 18/24 of the weight is gold.

Why is the lender’s valuation lower than the market price?

Lenders deduct stones and impurities and usually value at their own 22 K rate, not the 24 K price quoted in the news.
