Count anything — or tasbih and jaap rounds of 33, 99 or 108 — with big buttons, vibration and a CSV log.

Rounds for the highlighted counter (tasbih, jaap):
1 counter · total 0

Keys: ↑ + or Space add · ↓ or − subtract · 1–9 choose a counter · N new counter. Changes apply to the highlighted counter. Web pages cannot read a phone’s volume buttons — use big-button mode or a Bluetooth clicker.

A free online tally counter with history

This tally counter replaces a mechanical hand clicker. Tap the big plus button, press a key, or use the giant buttons in big-button mode to count people through a door, laps, reps, stitches, birds, votes, stock on a shelf or anything else. Create as many named counters as you need, each with its own step size and an optional target.

Every change is written to a history log with the date and time, so you can see when things were counted and download the log or the totals as a CSV file for Excel or Google Sheets. Counts are saved automatically in your browser and are still there when you come back.

It also works as a tasbih counter and jaap counter: one tap on 33, 99, 100 or 108 sets the highlighted counter to count in rounds, so it starts again after each round and adds up the rounds. No account, nothing uploaded — it works offline once the page is open.

How to use the Tally Counter

  1. Name the first counter, or press Add counter (or N) for more. Click a counter to make it the highlighted one.
  2. Press + or − on a card. On a keyboard, ↑, + or Space add and ↓ or − subtract; 1–9 switch counters.
  3. Set a Step to count in twos, tens or any amount, and a Target to see progress and get a message (and a vibration) when you reach it.
  4. Switch on Big-button mode for one-handed counting on a phone; the arrows move between counters.
  5. Download History CSV for every timestamped change, or Totals CSV for the current counts.

Tally Counter features

Multiple named counters

Up to 60 counters on one page, each with its own name, step size and target, plus a running grand total.

Big-button mode

A full-width counter with huge buttons, made for counting without looking at the screen.

Keyboard shortcuts

Count from a laptop keyboard or a Bluetooth clicker that sends arrow or space keys.

Targets and haptics

A progress bar, “to go” count and a celebratory vibration on Android phones when the target is hit.

Timestamped history

Each change, reset and value is logged; the newest 200 are shown and all of them export to CSV.

Safe by default

Counts stop at zero unless you allow negatives, and resetting or deleting asks you to press twice.

Rounds and keep-screen-on

Count rounds of 33, 99, 100 or 108 with a stronger vibration at the end of each, and keep the screen awake while you count.

Ideas for using a tally counter

UseTip
Event headcountOne counter for “in” and one for “out”; occupancy is the difference.
Traffic or bird surveyA counter per category (cars, buses, bikes) and keys 1–9 to switch fast.
Knitting and crochetRows and stitches as separate counters; set the pattern’s row count as the target.
WorkoutsReps with a target per set; the history shows how long each set took.
Stock takingStep size equal to the pack size, then export Totals CSV.
Habits and prayersCount rounds of 33 or 108 with the presets; pair with the habit tracker for daily streaks.

Using it as a tasbih or jaap counter

For dhikr after prayer, many Muslims recite SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah and Allahu Akbar 33 times each; a 99-bead tasbih reflects the 99 names of Allah. In Hindu and Sikh practice, jaap or naam simran is often counted on a mala of 108 beads. Make one counter for each phrase or mantra, name it, and press the preset: every 33 or 108 taps completes a round, the count starts again and the rounds are added up. If you overshoot, minus steps back, even into the previous round.

Tick Keep screen on so the phone does not lock mid-count (it uses the browser’s Screen Wake Lock, released when you untick it or leave the page). Web pages cannot read the volume buttons; big-button mode is made for counting by thumb.

How the history and CSV export work

Whenever a count changes, the tool stores the time, the counter’s name, the change and the new value. Resets appear as their own line. The History CSV has the columns Time, Counter, Change and Value with times in your local time zone (YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS), which spreadsheets sort and chart directly. Names containing commas or quotes are escaped correctly, and a name that begins with =, +, − or @ is prefixed so spreadsheets do not treat it as a formula.

Everything is stored in your browser’s local storage (up to the last 5,000 changes). Clearing your browsing data deletes it, so export a CSV for anything you need to keep.

Tips for accurate counting

  • Use big-button mode and keep your thumb on the plus button; the subtract button is deliberately smaller.
  • If you double-tap by mistake, press minus once — the history keeps an honest record of both.
  • On phones, add this page to your home screen for one-tap access, and keep vibration on for confirmation without looking.
  • Need to time things too? Run the stopwatch in another tab.

Tally Counter FAQ

Is this online tally counter free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no limits beyond 60 counters and 5,000 logged changes.

Will my counts be saved if I close the page?

Yes, in this browser on this device. They are not synced to other devices; use the CSV export to keep a copy.

Can I count with a keyboard or a presentation clicker?

Yes. Arrow up, plus, equals and space add; arrow down and minus subtract. Many clickers send arrow or page keys — arrows work directly.

How do I count by more than one?

Enter a number in the counter’s Step box. Each press then adds or subtracts that amount.

Why doesn’t my phone vibrate?

Vibration works in Android browsers that support it. iPhones do not allow web pages to vibrate. Also check that Vibrate is ticked and silent mode allows haptics.

Can I use this as a tasbih counter app?

Yes. Press 33, 99 or 108 to count in rounds, add it to your home screen, and it opens like an app — free, without ads in the counter, and working offline.

Can I count with the volume buttons?

No. Browsers do not let web pages read the volume keys. Use big-button mode, or a Bluetooth tasbih ring or clicker that sends key presses.

Can the counter go negative?

Not by default, so a stray tap cannot take a count below zero. Tick “Allow below zero” if you are tracking a balance that can be negative.
