A social media bio generator that fits every limit
Every platform gives you a different amount of room to say who you are: 80 characters on TikTok, 101 for a Facebook intro, 150 on Instagram and Threads, 160 on X, 220 for a LinkedIn headline and 1,000 for a YouTube channel description. This social media bio generator writes 20 ideas for the platform you pick and trims each one, line by line, until it fits.
Tell it your role, who you help and what you help them do, add any achievements that are true, then choose a personality (friendly, witty, professional, bold or calm), a call to action and how much emoji you like. Each bio is built from a role line, a value line, your proof, a personality line and the call to action — and the least important part goes first when space runs out.
For LinkedIn you also get an About draft (up to 2,600 characters) in the first person. A preview card shows how a bio looks on a profile, and a checker measures any bio you paste. Everything runs in your browser; the optional AI button uses a model on your device.
How to write a bio with the generator
- Fill in Name or brand and Role or niche (“fitness coach”, “home baker”, “UPSC mentor”). Add who you help and what you help them do if you can — it makes the strongest line.
- List real Achievements or proof, one per line: clients, years, certifications, a feature.
- Choose the Call to action, Personality, emoji level and whether to use line breaks.
- Pick a Platform. The 20 ideas, the preview card and the meters all switch to that platform’s limit. Press the eye button on any idea to preview it.
- Star the bios you like, copy one, or download them all as CSV or TXT. On LinkedIn, copy the About draft too.
Social Media Bio Generator features
Seven platforms
Instagram, X, LinkedIn (headline and About), TikTok, Threads, YouTube channel description and Facebook intro, each with its own limit.
Fits by trimming, not cutting
If a bio is too long, the personality line, a second achievement and the value line are dropped in that order — never chopped mid-word.
Only your facts
Proof lines are exactly what you typed. The generator adds no numbers or awards, and the AI prompt says the same.
Preview card and checker
See the bio on a mock profile with a live meter, or paste any bio to check its length.
Seeded ideas
The same seed and inputs always give the same 20 bios; New bio ideas gives another set.
Bio and profile limits (checked 14 October 2026)
Characters are counted as Unicode characters. Some apps count an emoji as two, so leave a little room if your bio ends with emoji.
| Platform | Field | Limit | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bio | 150 characters | Commonly quoted (Instagram Help Center wording); the help pages could not be read from here | |
| X | Bio | 160 characters | Commonly quoted; X’s help pages refused automated access |
| Headline / About | 220 / 2,600 characters | Commonly quoted; LinkedIn Help not reachable from here | |
| TikTok | Bio | 80 characters (some accounts report more) | Commonly quoted; TikTok support unreachable |
| Threads | Bio | 150 characters | Commonly quoted |
| YouTube | Channel description | 1,000 characters | YouTube Data API, channels resource (updated 16 Sep 2026) |
| Profile intro | 101 characters (Page limits differ) | Commonly quoted |
Worked example
With Asha Rao, fitness coach in Bengaluru, helping busy mums get strong without a gym, proof “500+ clients coached” and “Certified strength coach”, a friendly personality, “Point to my link” and seed m4-test, the first Instagram idea is “💪 Fitness coach / Helping you get strong without a gym, one step at a time / 500+ clients coached / Certified strength coach / 👇 Free resources below” (five lines, 141 characters); the second starts “💪 Fitness coach for busy mums / I help busy mums get strong without a gym”. Every idea stays within 150 characters.
Switch to LinkedIn and the same facts become one-line headlines joined with “ | ”, plus an About draft that begins “I’m Asha Rao, a fitness coach based in Bengaluru. I help busy mums get strong without a gym.” followed by your highlights as bullet points.
What makes a bio work
- Lead with what you do for people, not a list of hobbies. The second line is where “helping X do Y” belongs.
- One piece of proof beats three adjectives: a number, a credential or a result.
- End with one clear next step and make sure the link it points to works on a phone.
- Instagram bio links are not clickable — use the Links field. For stylish letters, try the Fancy Text Generator, but keep the key words plain so search and screen readers can read them.
- Need a handle to go with it? The Username Generator helps; for posts, use the Social Media Caption Generator.
- For a job-search headline and a longer profile summary for students, freshers and career changers, use the professional headline generator.
Social Media Bio Generator FAQ
How long can an Instagram bio be?
150 characters, including spaces, line breaks and emoji. This social media bio generator trims every Instagram idea to fit, and the checker measures any bio you paste.
What should I write in my bio?
Who you are, who you help and how, one piece of proof, and what to do next. The generator builds bios in exactly that order, dropping the least important line when space is short.
Can I use the same bio everywhere?
You can, but limits differ — TikTok allows only about 80 characters while YouTube allows 1,000. Pick each platform here to get versions that fit.
Does it make up achievements?
No. Proof lines are copied from what you type. The optional AI button is told not to invent facts, numbers, awards or employers, but always read AI text before using it.
How do I add line breaks to my Instagram bio?
Edit your profile in the Instagram app and press return where you want a new line; or copy a bio from here with Line breaks ticked. To keep blank lines in captions, use the Instagram Caption Formatter.
Is my information private?
Yes. The bios are assembled in your browser; nothing is uploaded, and favourites are stored only in this browser.
