Sign a PDF online in under a minute
The Sign PDF tool lets you add your handwritten signature to any PDF without printing, scanning or installing an app. Draw your signature with a finger, stylus or mouse, type your name in a handwriting font, or upload a photo of your signature — then tap the page where it belongs, drag it into place and download the signed document.
It is made for everyday paperwork: rental agreements, offer letters, school consent forms, delivery receipts, NDAs, invoices and declarations that ask for a “signature here”. Sign as many places as you need — initials on every page and a full signature on the last one.
Your document is opened and signed entirely inside your browser. It is never uploaded to a server, and your signature is not stored anywhere after you close the page.
How to use the Sign PDF
- Drop your PDF onto the upload area or click it to choose the file.
- Create your signature: Draw it in the white box, Type your name and pick a handwriting style, or Upload image of a signature on white paper. Choose black or blue ink.
- Go to the right page with the arrow buttons and tap or click where the signature should appear.
- Drag it to adjust the position and use the size slider until it fits the signature line. Tap the page again to add more signatures or initials.
- Press “Download signed PDF” to save signed.pdf.
Sign PDF features
Three ways to sign
Draw with smooth, natural strokes, type in one of four handwriting fonts, or upload a scanned signature with its white background removed automatically.
Made for touch screens
The signature pad and the drag-to-move placement work with a finger or stylus on phones and tablets, without the page scrolling while you sign.
Sign many places
Add as many signatures or initials as you like, on any page. Each copy can be moved, resized or deleted separately.
Exact placement
What you see is what you get: positions are mapped to the PDF’s own coordinates, including pages that are rotated or in landscape.
Clean, transparent ink
Signatures are embedded as transparent PNG images, so lines and text underneath stay visible.
Private
Nothing is uploaded and nothing is saved. Your signature exists only in your browser tab and in the file you download.
Is a signature added this way legally valid?
A signature drawn, typed or pasted onto a PDF is an electronic signature. Many countries accept electronic signatures for a wide range of everyday agreements — for example under the US ESIGN Act and UETA, the EU eIDAS Regulation (as a “simple electronic signature”) and India’s Information Technology Act, 2000 — provided the signer intends to sign and the parties agree to do business electronically.
It is not a certified digital signature. A digital signature uses a certificate from a trusted authority (such as a DSC issued by a licensed certifying authority in India, or a qualified signature in the EU) to cryptographically prove who signed and that the file has not changed since. Some documents require that level of proof, or a wet-ink signature: property transfers, wills, certain government and tax filings and court documents. If you are unsure, ask the person or organisation receiving the document. This page is general information, not legal advice.
Tips for a neat signature
- On a phone, turn the device sideways for a wider signing area, and sign slowly — smoother strokes look more natural.
- Blue ink makes it obvious that a printed copy carries an original signature; black ink suits forms that will be photocopied.
- When uploading, photograph your signature on plain white paper in good light. Cropping it tightly first with Crop Image helps.
- Signing a scanned document? Make sure it is a PDF first — photos can be converted with JPG to PDF.
- Collecting several signed documents? Combine them with Merge PDF, and mark drafts with Watermark PDF.
Sign PDF FAQ
How do I sign a PDF for free?
Upload the PDF, draw, type or upload your signature, tap the page to place it, adjust the size and press “Download signed PDF”. There is no sign-up, watermark or limit.
Can I sign a PDF on my phone?
Yes. The tool is designed for touch screens: draw with your finger in the signature box, tap the page to place the signature and drag it with your finger.
Is an electronic signature the same as a digital signature?
No. An electronic signature is an image or mark showing your intent to sign. A digital signature is a cryptographic seal backed by a certificate. This tool creates electronic signatures only.
Can I add more than one signature?
Yes. Tap the page again to add another copy, move to another page with the arrows, or switch between drawn, typed and uploaded signatures — every placement keeps its own look.
Is my document or signature stored anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser. The PDF and your signature are never uploaded, and they disappear when you close the tab.
Why does it say my PDF is protected?
Encrypted PDFs cannot be modified without the password. Open the file with its password in a PDF reader, save an unprotected copy, and sign that copy.
