Online Teleprompter – Free Scrolling Script Reader

Paste a script and read it as it scrolls at your speaking pace, with mirror mode, countdown and fullscreen.

Saved only in this browser. Blank lines start a new paragraph.

Ready. Press Start, or the space bar.

Welcome back to the channel. Today I want to show you a simple way to read a script without staring at a page.

Keep your eyes close to the lens, speak at your normal pace, and let the words come to you. If you need to slow down, press the down arrow. To speed up, press the up arrow.

Press the space bar to pause at any time, and use the left and right arrow keys to jump back or forward ten seconds. Thanks for watching, and see you in the next one.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

A free online teleprompter that scrolls at your speaking pace

This online teleprompter turns any script into smooth, steady scrolling text, so you can look at the lens instead of at your notes. Paste your script, choose a speed in words per minute, press Start and read. It runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and your script is saved only on your own device.

The scroll is time-based, not frame-based, so it moves at the same pace on a 60 Hz phone and a 144 Hz monitor. You can change the speed while it runs, jump back or forward ten seconds, mirror the text for a beam-splitter prompter, or flip it for a mirror setup. Use a presentation clicker and the page-up and page-down keys work as remote controls.

How to use the Online Teleprompter

  1. Paste or type your script. Blank lines become paragraph breaks and the word count and reading time update at once.
  2. Set the speed in words per minute and the text size so you can read comfortably from your recording distance.
  3. Choose a countdown, colours, and whether to mirror or flip the text. Keep the reading line on to know where to look.
  4. Press Start or the space bar, or click the text. Use the arrow keys to adjust speed on the fly.
  5. For filming, press Fullscreen. Turn on Show camera only if you want a preview behind the text; it is never recorded or uploaded.

Online Teleprompter features

Words-per-minute scrolling

Speed is a real pace, so a 300-word script at 150 wpm takes exactly two minutes, shown before you start.

Mirror, flip and reading line

Left-right mirror for beam-splitter glass, upside-down flip for a mirror setup, and a highlighted line where your eyes should rest.

Keyboard and clicker control

Space, arrow keys, PageUp, PageDown, Home, F and M; works with presentation remotes that send page keys.

Countdown and wake lock

A 0–10 second countdown, and where the browser allows it the screen stays awake while you read.

Private by design

Your script is saved in this browser only. The optional camera preview stays on your device.

How the speed works

Speed is the number of words the prompter advances each minute. The script is mapped onto the scrollable text from the first word to the last, and the position moves by (elapsed time × words per minute ÷ 60,000) words on every frame. If you change speed mid-read, it carries on from the exact place you were. Dragging or scrolling the text yourself moves the position too, so you can skip ahead and resume.

Conversational speech is often quoted at roughly 120 to 160 words per minute, and many presenters read a little slower than they talk. Treat that as a starting point: record a minute of yourself and set the speed to match. To count words in a draft, use the word counter; to plan the sections and timings first, use the video script template builder.

Tips for a natural read

  • Write the way you talk: short sentences, contractions, and a clear marker where you want a pause.
  • Put the prompter as close to the lens as you can, and use a larger text size from further away.
  • Rehearse once at full speed. Reading cold is why prompted video can sound flat.
  • If you use mirror mode, test it on a phone or screen first; it should read normally in the reflection.

Limits

  • This tool does not record video. Use your phone or camera app to film while the prompter is on another screen, or enable the optional preview only to check framing.
  • Screen wake lock depends on the browser; if it is refused, switch off auto-lock in your device settings.
  • Fullscreen is not available in every mobile browser. Use the browser’s own full-screen option or add the page to the home screen.
  • The text scrolls evenly across the script, so long pauses you add as blank lines are not timed separately.

Online Teleprompter FAQ

Is there a free teleprompter online with no sign-up?

Yes. This one needs no account, runs in your browser and does not upload your script.

Can I use it with a camera?

You can show an optional camera preview behind the text, which helps check framing. It does not record. To record, use your camera or phone app while this page runs on a second screen or a prompter.

Does it record video?

No. The page does not record or upload anything. Record with your device’s own camera app.

What speed should I choose?

Start near 140 to 150 words per minute and adjust. Press the up or down arrow while it scrolls to change it by 5 at a time.

How do I use it with a clicker or remote?

Most clickers send PageUp and PageDown (or left and right arrows). Those jump the script back or forward by ten seconds. Space starts and pauses.

What does mirror mode do?

It reverses the text left to right, which is what a beam-splitter prompter glass needs. Flip turns it upside down for a different mirror setup.

Where is my script stored?

Only in this browser’s local storage. Clear site data to remove it.
