ACT to SAT conversion with the official concordance tables
This ACT to SAT converter uses the only official concordance between the two tests: the 2018 ACT/SAT concordance tables produced jointly by College Board and ACT. Type an ACT Composite to see the matching SAT total — both the single score point the tables recommend and the full SAT range that lines up with it — or switch direction to turn an SAT total into an ACT Composite.
It also converts ACT Math to SAT Math and back, and shows the whole ACT to SAT chart with your score highlighted. Concordance is not a prediction of what you would score on the other test; it pairs scores that sit at the same percentile for students who took both.
How to use the ACT to SAT Score Converter
- Choose a direction: ACT → SAT, SAT → ACT, or one of the Math conversions.
- Enter your score. SAT totals and section scores go up in steps of 10.
- Read the concordant score and, for totals, the matching range.
- Scroll to the conversion chart to compare nearby scores.
ACT to SAT Score Converter features
Official tables only
Values come straight from Tables A1, A2, B1 and B2 of the 2018 concordance guide — nothing is interpolated.
Single point and range
Each ACT Composite maps to an SAT range; the tables also give one recommended SAT point for one-to-one comparisons.
Both directions
ACT → SAT and SAT → ACT for totals, plus ACT Math ↔ SAT Math.
Clear limits
Scores outside the published tables (below ACT 9 or SAT 590) are flagged instead of guessed.

A few rows from Table A2. The single SAT point is the one to use when you need one number; the range is every SAT total that concords to that ACT score.

How the concordance was built
College Board and ACT matched the scores of 589,753 students from the high-school class of 2017 who took both the ACT and the SAT, and paired scores with the same percentile rank. The ACT Composite tables were derived from the ACT sum score, which is why one ACT score spans several SAT scores.
Since then the SAT moved to a digital, adaptive test (2023 internationally, 2024 in the US). College Board’s concordance study says digital SAT scores can be used the same way as paper scores, so the 2018 tables still apply on the SAT side. ACT changed in 2025: Science left the Composite, which is now the average of English, Math and Reading. No new concordance for that Composite has been published, so a 2025-onward ACT score converted here is a reasonable approximation, not an official equivalence.
Using converted scores
Colleges that accept both tests usually compare them with these same tables, so the concordance tells you which score is relatively stronger. If your converted SAT is higher than your real SAT, your ACT is the stronger result, and vice versa. Work out your Composite first with the ACT score calculator, or score a paper practice test with the SAT score calculator.
ACT to SAT Score Converter FAQ
What is a 30 ACT on the SAT?
ACT 30 concords to an SAT total of 1370, within a range of 1360–1380.
How do I convert SAT to ACT?
Choose “SAT → ACT” and type your total. For example, any SAT total from 1260 to 1290 concords to ACT 27, and 1200–1220 to ACT 25.
Is this ACT to SAT calculator official?
The numbers are the official 2018 College Board–ACT concordance tables. The converter only looks them up; it does not change them.
Does the concordance work for the digital SAT?
Yes — College Board says digital SAT scores can be used in the same way as paper SAT scores, so the 2018 tables are still the reference.
What about the new 2025 ACT?
No updated concordance has been published for the enhanced ACT Composite (English, Math and Reading). Converting it with the 2018 tables gives an approximate result.
Why does one ACT score match a range of SAT scores?
The SAT has more score points (400–1600 in tens) than the ACT has (1–36), so several SAT totals share the same percentile band as one ACT Composite.
