An itinerary planner and itinerary maker for any trip
This itinerary planner turns a trip into a clear day-by-day plan. Add each flight, train, hotel check-in, sight, meal or meeting with its date, start and end time, place, booking reference and notes, and the planner sorts everything into numbered days on a timeline. Places become map links, and the whole plan can go straight into your phone’s calendar, onto paper, or into a spreadsheet.
It is a free itinerary maker and itinerary template in one: start from the example weekend, overwrite it, and your plan is saved in this browser so it is there next time. No account and no upload — the itinerary never leaves your device unless you export it.
How to use the Itinerary Planner
- Name the trip and pick the time zone you will be in; it is used when exporting to a calendar.
- Under Add to the plan, choose a date, optional start and end times, the type, what it is, and the place or address. Add a booking reference and notes if you like, then press Add to itinerary.
- Repeat for every item. Items without a time are listed first in their day; the rest follow in time order.
- Use Edit or × on any item to change or remove it.
- Export: Add to calendar (.ics) for Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook; Print / save as PDF for a printable itinerary; CSV for Excel or Google Sheets; or Copy as text to paste into a message or document.
Itinerary Planner features
Day-by-day timeline
Items grouped by date with day numbers from the first day, sorted by time, with colour-coded types for flights, trains, stays, sights, food and meetings.
Calendar export that respects time zones
The .ics file stores each time converted from the trip’s time zone to UTC, so a 10:30 visit in Jaipur shows at 10:30 Jaipur time on any phone; overnight items end the next day.
Printable itinerary
A clean print view without the editor, ready to print or save as a PDF from the print dialog.
Booking references in one place
PNRs, hotel confirmations and table bookings sit next to the item they belong to.
Private and saved
Stored only in this browser; restore the example or clear everything at any time.
Itinerary template: what to include
If you use an itinerary template in Google Docs, copy the text export into a document: it keeps the day headings and times. For the order of stops on a driving day, use the Multi-Stop Route Planner; to keep the money side in check, the Travel Budget Planner.
- Transport: flight or train numbers, departure and arrival times, terminal and booking reference (PNR).
- Stays: check-in and check-out times, address and confirmation number.
- Things to do: opening hours, ticket times and how long you need; leave buffer time between items.
- Meals and meetings: reservations with names and numbers.
- Notes: dress codes, what to carry, who to call — anything you would otherwise search for in your inbox.
How the calendar export works
The planner writes a standard iCalendar file (RFC 5545). Timed items become events with start and end in UTC, calculated from the trip’s time zone including daylight saving; an item without an end time gets one hour. Items without a time become all-day events. Commas, semicolons and line breaks are escaped and long lines folded as the standard requires, so the file imports cleanly. Each export has fresh unique IDs per item, so importing it twice may create duplicates — delete the old copy first. Crossing time zones? Plan in the destination’s zone, and check arrival times with the Jet Lag Planner.
Itinerary Planner FAQ
How do I make an itinerary with this itinerary maker?
Add one item at a time with a date, time, title and place. The planner sorts them into days automatically. When you are done, print it, save it as a PDF or add it to your calendar.
Can I use it as an itinerary template for Google Docs?
Yes. Press Copy as text and paste into a Google Doc; the days, times, places and references come across as plain text you can format. The CSV download opens in Google Sheets.
How do I add my itinerary to Google Calendar?
Press Add to calendar (.ics), then in Google Calendar choose Settings → Import & export → Import and pick the file. Apple Calendar and Outlook open .ics files directly.
How do I save my itinerary as a PDF?
Press Print / save as PDF and choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. Only the itinerary is printed, without the form and buttons.
Is my itinerary saved?
Yes, automatically in this browser on this device. It is not uploaded anywhere, so it will not appear on another device; export a file if you want a copy elsewhere.
Can I plan a multi-city trip?
Yes. Add items for every city on the dates you are there. Set the time zone for calendar export to where most of the trip happens, or export each leg separately.
