Printable Islamic calendar with English dates
This Islamic calendar shows today’s Hijri date and prints a Hijri month — or a whole Islamic year, one month per page — laid out week by week, with the English (Gregorian) date in every square and the holy days marked: the Islamic New Year, Ashura, Mawlid, Isra and Mi’raj, Shab-e-Barat, Ramadan, Laylat al-Qadr, Eid al-Fitr, the Day of Arafah and Eid al-Adha.
Choose the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar, the setting used in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh (usually one day later), or the tabular calendar, and adjust by a day to match your local moon sighting. Print it, or download a vector PDF or a PNG for your phone; everything is drawn in your browser.

Reading the Islamic calendar
The Islamic (Hijri) calendar counts years from the Hijra of the Prophet Muhammad in 622 CE. Its twelve months — Muharram, Safar, Rabi al-Awwal, Rabi al-Thani, Jumada al-Ula, Jumada al-Thani, Rajab, Sha’ban, Ramadan, Shawwal, Dhu al-Qadah and Dhu al-Hijjah — have 29 or 30 days and follow the Moon, so a year has about 354 days and every month moves about 11 days earlier against the English calendar each year. That is why a printed Hijri calendar is useful: it shows at a glance which English date each Islamic day falls on.
An Islamic day begins at sunset, so the night of a holy day starts on the evening before the date printed. Saudi Arabia’s Umm al-Qura calendar is a published table (used here, and checked against the browser’s own Umm al-Qura calendar); many countries begin each month only when the crescent is seen, often a day later, which the regional setting and the adjustment let you follow. For a list of dates over several years see Islamic holidays by year, and to convert a single date the Hijri date converter.
| Hijri month | Days | Holy days |
|---|---|---|
| Muharram | 29/30 | Islamic New Year (1), Ashura (10) |
| Rabi al-Awwal | 29/30 | Mawlid an-Nabi (12) |
| Rajab | 29/30 | Isra and Mi’raj (27) |
| Sha’ban | 29/30 | Shab-e-Barat (15) |
| Ramadan | 29/30 | Fasting month; Laylat al-Qadr (27th night) |
| Shawwal | 29/30 | Eid al-Fitr (1) |
| Dhu al-Hijjah | 29/30 | Day of Arafah (9), Eid al-Adha (10) |
Printing tips
Landscape A4 or Letter gives the largest squares for writing. The PDF uses standard fonts, so month names are in English transliteration; the preview, print and PNG are identical. For a Gregorian wall calendar with Hijri dates added, use the calendar generator with its Islamic dates layer.
