Convert ICO icons to JPG images
Some places simply want a JPG: a form that rejects .ico uploads, a document or slide template, an asset library, a print order or a marketplace listing. This ICO to JPG converter opens Windows icon and favicon files, takes the largest image inside — or every size, if you prefer — and saves it as a JPG on the background colour of your choice.
Icons are drawn for transparent backgrounds, and JPG can’t store transparency, so the background colour matters. White suits most documents, but you can match a slide, a website header or a brand colour so the icon’s smooth edges blend in cleanly. The file is read in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
How to convert ICO to JPG
- Drop your .ico or .cur files on the upload area, or click to choose them.
- Under Sizes, keep Largest size only for one JPG per icon, or choose Each size once (best colour depth) or Every embedded image.
- Pick the Background colour the icon will sit on, and set the JPG quality.
- Check the previews — each card shows the size and how it was stored — and untick any you don’t want.
- Download the JPG, or use the ZIP button to save several sizes at once.

Switch to every size and untick the ones to leave out of the ZIP.

Convert a whole folder of icons in one go.
Private
Everything happens in your browser.
Picking the right background colour
An icon’s edges are usually antialiased: pixels along curves are partly transparent so the shape looks smooth. When the icon is flattened onto a background, those pixels are mixed with the background colour. If the JPG is later placed on a different colour, the mixed edge shows as a faint halo. So choose the colour of wherever the JPG will finally appear — white for most documents and forms, black or dark grey for dark themes, or your exact brand colour for slides and banners.
If you can’t know the final background, or need it to stay see-through, convert to PNG with the ICO to PNG converter instead.
Why small icons make poor JPGs
Icons are tiny by design. A 16 × 16 or 32 × 32 image enlarged for a document looks blocky in any format, and JPG compression adds smudges to the hard edges of pixel art. For the best result:
- Use the largest size in the icon — modern icons include 256 × 256, which is enough for most documents.
- Keep the JPG quality at 90% or higher; icons are small, so the files stay small anyway.
- If you need a bigger image than the icon contains, find the original logo or an SVG version and render it with the SVG to JPG converter.
- Resize afterwards with the Image Resizer if a form asks for exact dimensions, or create a fresh icon set with the Favicon Generator.

ICO to JPG Converter FAQ
How do I convert an ICO file to JPG?
Drop the .ico file onto this page. The largest image inside is saved as a JPG on a white background; press Download to save it.
Why is there a white box around my icon?
JPG can’t be transparent, so the transparent area around the icon is filled with the background colour. Change “Background colour” to match where the image will be used, or convert to PNG to keep the transparency.
Can I get every size from the icon as a JPG?
Yes. Choose “Each size once (best colour depth)” or “Every embedded image”, then download the sizes you want as a ZIP.
Why does the JPG look blurry or blocky?
Icons are small images. If the file contains only 16 or 32 px sizes, any enlargement looks soft. Use the largest size available, or start from the original artwork.
Can I convert a favicon to JPG?
Yes. A favicon.ico is a normal icon file, and the converter saves its largest size as a JPG.
Is it free and private?
Yes. There are no limits or watermarks, and the conversion runs entirely in your browser.
