Cheque Writing and Printing Tool

Lay out payee, date boxes, amount and amount in words to print on your own blank cheque, with an alignment test.

For printing on your own blank cheque leaf only. This tool draws payee, date, amount and words — never the bank name, logo, account number, MICR band or signature, and it cannot make a cheque.

Amount in words
Leaf size, offsets and positions (millimetres)

The defaults are a starting guess for a leaf about 203 × 89 mm (8 × 3.5 in). Bank layouts differ, so measure your own leaf, print the alignment test on plain paper, hold it against the cheque in front of a light, and adjust until the marks land on the right lines.

Amount in figures

Everything is drawn in your browser. The payee and amount are never uploaded or saved; “Remember” stores only the sizes and positions. When printing, choose 100% scale (no “fit to page”) and no headers or footers.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

Print the amount, payee and date on your own cheque

This cheque writing tool lays out the payee name, the date in DDMMYYYY boxes, the amount in figures and the amount in words so you can print them onto your own blank cheque leaf. Words follow Indian style (“Rupees One Lakh Twenty Thousand and Fifty Paise Only”), US style (“One Thousand Two Hundred Thirty-Four Dollars and 50/100”) or UK style.

Banks lay out their cheques differently, so the tool does not pretend to know yours. You enter the leaf size, nudge every field in millimetres, print an alignment test on plain paper, and save the settings in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use the Cheque Writing and Printing Tool

  1. Type the payee and amount, choose Indian, US or UK style, and pick the date.
  2. Measure your cheque leaf and enter its width and height under “Leaf size, offsets and positions”.
  3. Press “Print alignment test” on plain paper. Hold it against the cheque in front of a light and note how far each red mark is from the matching line.
  4. Change the X and Y positions (or move everything at once), repeat, then press “Remember on this device”.
  5. Load the blank cheque, press “Print cheque text” at 100% scale with no headers or footers, or download the PDF.

Cheque Writing and Printing Tool features

Amount in words

Uses the same engine as the number to words converter, with lakh and crore for rupees and an optional asterisk fill after the words.

Date boxes

DDMMYYYY with one digit per box and adjustable spacing, or a plain DD-MM-YYYY.

Alignment test

A millimetre grid with a cross at each field position, printed or saved as a PDF at the exact leaf size.

Private

The payee and amount stay in the page; only layout numbers can be saved, and only if you press the button.

What this tool does not do

It never draws a bank name, logo, account number, IFSC, signature or the MICR code line, and it is not a cheque generator. Indian cheques follow the Reserve Bank of India’s CTS-2010 standard, which fixes paper, security features and field zones, but the leaf measurements could not be confirmed from the RBI circular in this build, so the default 203 × 89 mm is only the commonly quoted 8 × 3.5 inch size. Measure your own leaf and calibrate. Use this only for cheques that are yours to sign, and check your bank’s rules on printed cheques.

How to write the amount in words

  • India: start with “Rupees”, write lakh and crore, add paise if any, and end with “Only”.
  • US: dollars in words, cents as a fraction of 100 (50/100), then a line to the end of the space.
  • Date boxes: Indian cheques print the date as DDMMYYYY, one digit per box, so 24 October 2026 is 2 4 1 0 2 0 2 6. Change the box spacing if your boxes are wider or narrower.
  • Words and figures must match; banks generally treat the words as the amount. Fill unused space so nothing can be added.
  • Amounts are rounded to two decimal places. For other spellings of numbers use the number to words converter.

Cheque Writing and Printing Tool FAQ

Can I print on a blank cheque?

Yes, if the cheque is yours: load it in the printer, print at 100% scale and check the alignment on plain paper first. Printer feeds differ, so calibrate once and save the offsets.

What is the standard cheque size in India?

Many leaves are about 8 × 3.5 inches (roughly 203 × 89 mm), but sizes vary by bank, so measure yours. This tool takes the width and height as inputs.

How do I write rupees in words on a cheque?

Write “Rupees”, then the amount in words using lakh and crore, then “Only”. For ₹1,20,000 that is “Rupees One Lakh Twenty Thousand Only”.

Why does the alignment test say “not a cheque”?

So a test sheet can never be mistaken for a real instrument. It carries a grid and crosses only, no bank details.

How do I fix text that prints too high or too low?

Move everything down or right by a few millimetres, or change one field in the table. Print the alignment test again; each red cross marks where that field starts, so you can read the error straight off the grid.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The payee, date and amount are used in your browser to build the preview and PDF. Only the layout numbers you choose to remember are stored on your device.
