A business card generator that prints right the first time
This business card generator lays out a two-sided card from your name, title, company, phone, email, website and address, places your logo, and can add a QR code that saves your details straight into a phone’s contacts. Pick one of 14 templates, then download a print-ready PDF with bleed and optional crop marks, a 10-up sheet for an office printer, a 300 DPI PNG for an online print shop, and a matching .vcf contact file.
It runs entirely in your browser: what you type and the logo you upload never leave your device. In the PDF, text is drawn as vector outlines from SIL Open Font License Google Fonts, so a print shop gets sharp lettering without needing your fonts.
How to use the Business Card Generator
- Pick a Template. Each brings its own colours and fonts; tick “Keep my colours” if you already have brand colours.
- Fill in Your details. Empty lines disappear from the card and from the QR code.
- Under Logo, colours & fonts, upload a logo (a transparent PNG or SVG looks best) and set its size, the colours and the fonts.
- In QR code & back side, choose what the code holds — vCard, the shorter MECARD, a website or a WhatsApp chat — and check the module-size note under the preview.
- In Size & print, choose the card size and bleed, then download the print PDF, the 10-up sheet, a PNG or the vCard file.
Business Card Generator features
14 templates, both sides
Classic, side band, split panel, bold dark, monogram, elegant serif, QR-on-front and more, horizontal or vertical, with four back-side styles or a single-sided card.
A QR code you can trust
vCard and MECARD text follow the published formats, with commas and semicolons escaped, drawn as vector squares with a four-module quiet zone. The module size is shown in millimetres.
Bleed, trim and safe-zone guides
The preview shades the bleed and outlines the trim and safe zone; the PDF records TrimBox and BleedBox for prepress software.
10-up sheet with cut marks
Ten cards on A4 or US Letter. Backs are mirrored so they line up when printed double-sided on the long edge.
Exact 300 DPI PNG
A 3.5 × 2 in card is exactly 1050 × 600 pixels, and the file stores its 300 DPI.
Business card sizes by country
There is no international standard — the Wikipedia “Business card” table (edited 24 May 2026) lists more than a dozen national sizes. The sizes here were checked on 14 October 2026 against Vistaprint (US and India), Tradeprint (UK) and Onlineprinters (Ireland). Your printer’s own file guide always wins.
| Where | Trim size | Usual bleed |
|---|---|---|
| US and Canada | 3.5 × 2 in (88.9 × 50.8 mm) | 0.125 in (3.175 mm) |
| India | 3.5 × 2 in online; 90 × 55 mm also used | ask your printer (3 mm default) |
| UK and Western Europe | 85 × 55 mm | 3 mm (some use 2 mm) |
| China, Singapore, Malaysia | 90 × 54 mm | 3 mm |
| Japan | 91 × 55 mm | ask your printer |
| Credit-card size (ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1) | 85.60 × 53.98 mm | 3 mm |
Bleed, safe zone, resolution and colour
Bleed is background that runs past the cut so a slightly off-centre trim leaves no white sliver: Vistaprint’s US guide wants a 3.75 × 2.25 in file for a 3.5 × 2 in card, Tradeprint a 91 × 61 mm file for 85 × 55 mm. The safe zone keeps text away from the cut — 0.125 in at Vistaprint, “3 mm (ideally 5 mm)” at Tradeprint; every template here keeps text at least 5 mm in. Printers ask for 300 DPI at final size.
One honest caveat: browsers only draw in RGB, so the PDF and PNG are RGB files. The printer converts them to CMYK, and very bright screen colours (electric blue, neon green) print duller. If an exact brand colour matters, order a printed proof.
What goes inside the QR code
A vCard is the contact format phones import. The QR code uses vCard 3.0 (RFC 2426) for the widest scanner support; the .vcf download can also be vCard 4.0 (RFC 6350). Commas, semicolons and backslashes are escaped, so “Rao, Sons; & Co” becomes ORG:Rao\, Sons\; & Co. MECARD is NTT DOCOMO’s shorter format (MECARD:N:Rao,Ananya;TEL:…;;); ORG is not in DOCOMO’s field list, but common scanners such as ZXing read it. A WhatsApp code uses https://wa.me/919876543210 — country code, no plus sign, zeros or dashes.
Worked example: the sample card’s vCard is 303 bytes, which needs a 69 × 69-module code (version 13) at error-correction level M. On the 37.3 mm plate of the “Logo + QR code” back, with four quiet modules each side, a module is 37.3 ÷ 77 ≈ 0.48 mm — fine for a phone camera. The same contact as MECARD is 178 bytes and only 53 × 53 modules. Below about 0.33 mm per module the tool warns you.
Business Card Generator FAQ
What size is a standard business card?
In the US and Canada, 3.5 × 2 inches (88.9 × 50.8 mm), a size most Indian online printers also use. The UK and most of Europe use 85 × 55 mm; Japan uses 91 × 55 mm.
What is bleed, and do I need it?
Bleed is background extending 3 mm or 0.125 in past the cut line. If colour or images touch the edge of your card, yes. The print PDF includes it, plus crop marks if you tick the option.
Will the QR code on my business card scan?
This tool’s own test renders the card at 300 DPI and decodes the QR code back to the exact vCard text. In print, keep the module size above about 0.33 mm and the code dark on a light plate.
Is this business card generator free and private?
Yes — no sign-up, no watermark, and nothing you type or upload is sent anywhere. Your design is saved only in this browser; use “Save design” for a backup file.
Can I print business cards at home?
Yes. Print the 10-up sheet at 100% scale (turn off “fit to page”) on 300–350 gsm card and cut along the marks. For the backs, print page 2 on the reverse, flipping on the long edge.
How does this differ from a letterhead or an email signature?
Same details, different formats. Make a matching page header with the Letterhead Maker, a clickable footer with the Email Signature Generator, and a stand-alone code with the QR Code Generator.
