8th Pay Commission calculator — fitment scenarios

The 8th Central Pay Commission was constituted by Ministry of Finance Resolution No. 01-01/2025-E.III(A) of 3 November 2025, with 18 months to report. As of 24 October 2026 it has not reported: no fitment factor, pay matrix or date of effect has been announced. The factors below are scenarios, not announced figures — 2.57 is the factor the 7th CPC used.

—Hypothetical new basic pay
Fitment factor (scenario)New basic payChange vs basic + DA todayGross if allowance rules carry over
×1.92₹86,200+20 %₹1,10,488
×2.28₹1,02,400+42.5 %₹1,30,576
×2.57₹1,15,400+60.6 %₹1,46,696
×2.86₹1,28,400+78.7 %₹1,62,816

Scenario maths: new basic = today’s basic × factor (rounded to ₹100; pensions to the rupee) and DA/DR restarts at 0. “Gross” assumes today’s 7th CPC allowance rules carry over — HRA at 24 / 16 / 8 % and transport allowance without DA. State government employees: choose “Enter basic pay”; states set their own pay commissions and factors.

A 7th Pay Commission salary calculator built on the Gazette pay matrix

This 7th Pay Commission salary calculator works out the monthly in-hand salary of a central government job from the official pay matrix: pick a pay level and cell (or an SSC CGL post), and it adds dearness allowance, house rent allowance for X, Y or Z cities and transport allowance, then subtracts the NPS or GPF contribution, CGEGIS and CGHS. Amounts are in Indian rupees.

The pay matrix covers Levels 1 to 18, including Level 13A and the 2017 revision of Level 13. DA defaults to 60 % from 1 January 2026, the latest rate the Department of Expenditure had announced when this page was checked on 19 October 2026 — change it when a new order comes out. Results are estimates for planning, not advice; your pay slip is the final word.

It is also an 8th Pay Commission calculator for “what if” planning: try fitment factors of 1.92, 2.28, 2.57 or 2.86, or your own, on today’s basic pay or basic pension. These are scenarios only — as of 24 October 2026 the 8th CPC, set up on 3 November 2025, had not reported. A pensioner mode adds dearness relief, the additional pension from age 80 and commutation.

How to use the 7th & 8th Pay Commission Salary Calculator

  1. Choose a pay level and cell, or pick an SSC CGL post to jump to its level. Cell 1 is the starting pay of a new recruit.
  2. Check the DA rate and pick your HRA city class; the HRA rate follows the DA rule automatically.
  3. Choose whether you get the higher transport allowance (19 listed cities) and your pension scheme.
  4. Tick CGHS and add professional tax if they apply to you.
  5. Read the in-hand figure and the line-by-line table, then compare the 8th CPC fitment scenarios. Pensioners choose “Pensioner” and enter their basic pension.

Worked example: Level 7 (ASO, Inspector) in a metro

7th & 8th Pay Commission Salary Calculator FAQ

What is SSC CGL salary per month in hand?

At the starting cell with DA 60 % in an X city with higher TA: Level 4 about ₹50,100, Level 5 about ₹56,500, Level 6 about ₹67,300, Level 7 about ₹83,800 and Level 8 about ₹88,500 after NPS and CGEGIS, before income tax. Choose the post above for the exact figure.

How does the 7th pay commission salary calculator work out DA?

DA = basic pay × DA rate. With basic ₹44,900 and DA 60 %, DA is ₹26,940. DA is revised from 1 January and 1 July each year by Department of Expenditure order.

What is the latest DA rate?

60 % from 1 January 2026 (Office Memorandum of 22 April 2026). The July 2026 instalment had not been announced when this page was checked on 19 October 2026.

Which cities are X, Y and Z?

X: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Greater Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune. Y: other cities on the Department of Expenditure list. Z: everywhere else.

What will the 8th Pay Commission fitment factor be?

Nobody knows yet. The Commission was set up by the Resolution of 3 November 2025 and had not reported by 24 October 2026. The scenarios (1.92 to 2.86) and your own factor are guesses for planning, not announced figures.

How does the 8th pay commission calculator for pensioners work?

Choose “Pensioner”, enter your basic pension and DR. Each scenario multiplies the basic pension by the factor, adds any age-80+ additional pension and restarts DR at 0 — the way the 7th CPC revised pensions by 2.57.

Does it work for state government employees?

Use “Enter basic pay” with your state’s DA and HRA. States appoint their own pay commissions, usually after the central one, so treat the 8th CPC scenarios as a rough guide.

Does this include income tax?

No. It shows in-hand pay before income tax; tax depends on your regime and investments.
