Watermark Image

Add a text or logo watermark to one photo or a whole batch — positioned, rotated or tiled.

Drop photos here or click to choose JPG, PNG, WebP · watermark many at once · or paste with Ctrl+V

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to a server.

Add a watermark to your photos in seconds

A watermark tells people who took or owns a picture and discourages others from passing it off as their own. Photographers, artists, online sellers, estate agents and social media managers use them on previews, product shots and portfolio images. The Watermark Image tool adds a text or logo watermark to one photo or a whole batch, with full control over font, size, colour, opacity, rotation and position.

Place the mark in any of nine positions on a 3×3 grid, or tile it diagonally across the whole picture for stronger protection. Sizes are relative to each photo’s width, so a batch of mixed portrait and landscape images all get a proportional mark. Everything runs in your browser, so unreleased work and client photos never leave your device.

How to use the Watermark Image

  1. Drop one or more photos on the upload area, or paste an image with Ctrl+V.
  2. Choose Text and type your name, website or “© 2026 Studio Name”, or choose Logo image and pick your logo file.
  3. Adjust size, colour, opacity and rotation; tick “Shadow for contrast” so light text stays readable on bright areas.
  4. Pick a spot on the position grid and set the margin, or tick “Tile across the whole photo”.
  5. Tap a file in the list to preview it, then download it on its own or press “Download all” for a ZIP of every watermarked photo.

Watermark Image features

Text or logo

Six font styles with bold and an adaptive shadow, or any PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG logo — transparent PNG logos look best.

Nine positions or tiled

Corners, edges or centre on a 3×3 grid, or a repeating diagonal pattern that covers the whole image.

Opacity and rotation

Keep the mark subtle at 30–50% opacity, or make it bold; rotate from −90° to 90° for a classic diagonal stamp.

Proportional in batches

Text size, logo width and margin are percentages of each photo’s width, so every image in a batch looks consistent.

Full-resolution output

Watermarks are drawn onto the original pixels, keeping your photo’s size and detail.

Private and free

No upload, no account and no extra branding from us on your images.

Where to place a watermark

A small mark in a corner is discreet and good for portfolios and social posts, but it is also the easiest to crop away. A centred or diagonal mark across the subject is much harder to remove, which is why stock photo previews use repeating patterns. Choose based on what matters more: a clean look or strong protection.

  • Social media and portfolios: bottom-right or bottom-centre, 3–5% text size, 40–60% opacity.
  • Client proofs and previews: tiled, rotated around 30°–45°, 20–35% opacity — visible everywhere but the photo can still be judged.
  • Product photos for marketplaces: a small logo in a corner; check the marketplace rules first, as some do not allow watermarks on main listing images.
  • Documents and ID copies: a tiled text such as “Copy for XYZ Bank only” makes a scan useless for anything else. For PDFs, use Watermark PDF.

Tips for a professional-looking watermark

  • Use white text with the shadow switched on: it reads well on both dark and light areas of most photos.
  • Keep opacity between 30% and 60% so the mark is clearly there without dominating the picture.
  • For a logo, prepare a transparent PNG first; a logo on a white box looks like a sticker. Very large logo files can be shrunk with the image resizer.
  • Type the © symbol with Alt+0169 on Windows, Option+G on a Mac, or copy it from here: ©.
  • Resize and compress after watermarking if you need small web files — the image compressor keeps the mark crisp at sensible quality settings.

What a watermark can and cannot do

A watermark is a deterrent and a credit line, not a lock. Corner marks can be cropped out, and modern AI tools can sometimes paint over simple marks, especially small, low-contrast ones. Tiled marks across detailed areas of the image are the hardest to remove cleanly.

Copyright generally belongs to the creator whether or not a picture is watermarked, but a visible notice makes ownership obvious and makes it easier for people to find and credit you. Keep your unwatermarked originals somewhere safe — this tool never modifies the files on your device.

Watermark Image FAQ

How do I add a watermark to a photo for free?

Drop the photo on this page, type your text or choose your logo, pick a position and opacity, and press download. The watermark image tool is free, needs no sign-up and adds no branding of its own.

Can I watermark many photos at once?

Yes. Add as many photos as you like; the same watermark is applied to all of them in proportion to each photo’s size. “Download all” saves them together as a ZIP file.

How do I add my logo as a watermark?

Choose “Logo image”, pick your logo file and set its width as a percentage of the photo. A PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result.

What opacity should a watermark have?

Around 30–60% works for most photos: visible enough to credit you, light enough not to spoil the picture. Use lower opacity for tiled patterns.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Watermarks are drawn on a canvas in your browser, and the photos never leave your device.

Can someone remove my watermark?

A determined person can crop or retouch a small corner mark. A tiled, rotated watermark across the main subject is far harder to remove, so use it for previews you are worried about.
