Count down the days to your due date
This pregnancy countdown shows how many days are left until your due date, how many weeks and days pregnant you are today, what percentage of the 40 weeks is done and which trimester you are in — and it updates every day you come back. Enter your due date, or the first day of your last period and your cycle length, and see the milestones ahead: halfway at 20 weeks, the third trimester at 28 weeks, early term at 37 weeks and full term at 39 weeks.
For your fridge or a baby book, print the 40-week countdown chart: one box for every week with its start date, the weeks already done shaded, and space to colour each week as it passes. It is information only; your dating scan and your midwife or doctor decide your due date.

How the countdown is worked out
Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period, so the due date is 280 days — 40 weeks — after it; with a longer or shorter cycle than 28 days, the date moves by the difference. If your dating scan gave you a due date, use that: it is more accurate. The percentage is simply the number of days since your last period divided by 280. You are early term from 37 weeks, full term from 39 weeks and late term from 41 weeks.
Only about 1 in 20 babies is born on the due date itself; most arrive in the weeks around it. Use the pregnancy due date calculator for other ways of dating a pregnancy (conception, IVF, scan), and the twin pregnancy calculator if you are expecting twins.
Trimesters and term
- First trimester: from the first day of the last period to 13 weeks 6 days.
- Second trimester: 14 weeks to 27 weeks 6 days.
- Third trimester: from 28 weeks until the birth.
- Term: early term 37+0 to 38+6 weeks, full term 39+0 to 40+6, late term 41+0 to 41+6, and post-term from 42 weeks.
Getting ready as the countdown runs down
- Around 20 weeks: see how big your baby is with the baby size by week chart.
- From 24–28 weeks: get to know your baby’s pattern of movements — the kick counter can help.
- By 36–37 weeks: have your bag ready with the hospital bag checklist.
Pregnancy Countdown FAQ
How many days until my due date?
Enter your due date above: the countdown shows the exact number of days and the weeks and days left from today.
How many weeks pregnant am I?
Weeks are counted from the first day of your last period. The page shows weeks and days today, for example 21 weeks 6 days, which is your 22nd week.
What percentage of my pregnancy is done?
Days since your last period divided by 280. At 20 weeks you are halfway.
Can I print a pregnancy countdown calendar?
Yes. The printable chart has a box for each of the 40 weeks with its start date; colour one in each week.
Does the countdown change if my due date changes?
Yes. If your dating scan or your midwife gives you a new due date, enter it and every number and the printable chart update. The page remembers the date in this browser.
Why do some apps say I am a week further along?
Some count the week you are in (week 22) rather than completed weeks (21 weeks 6 days). Both describe the same day; this page shows both.
What if I go past my due date?
The countdown shows how many days past you are. Many pregnancies go past 40 weeks; your midwife or doctor will talk to you about monitoring and induction.
