Podcast RSS Feed Generator & Validator

Build a podcast RSS feed with Apple and Podcasting 2.0 tags, or check an existing feed for errors.

You host feed.xml, the artwork and the audio files yourself (your website, cloud storage or any web host). This tool writes and checks the XML in your browser; it does not host or submit anything.

Podcast RSS feed generator: write and check your feed

Every podcast app reads a show from one file: an RSS feed. This free podcast RSS feed generator turns your show and episode details into valid RSS 2.0 XML with the tags Apple Podcasts requires and the newer Podcasting 2.0 tags from the podcast namespace, and checks it as you type. Switch to Check an existing feed to validate a feed you already have.

It is for people who host their own show — on a website, cloud storage or a cheap web host — rather than on a podcast hosting service that writes the feed for them. You upload feed.xml, the artwork and the audio files yourself; this tool only writes and checks the XML, in your browser.

How to use the Podcast RSS Feed Generator

  1. Fill in the show: title, description, artwork URL, category, language and the explicit flag.
  2. Enter the feed URL — where feed.xml will live. It sets the self link and the podcast:guid.
  3. For each episode enter the title, audio URL, GUID and date. Use Fill size and duration from the audio file to read the byte size and length from your local file.
  4. Fix anything listed as an error, then press Download feed.xml (or Copy XML).
  5. Upload the file to your web host and submit its URL to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other directories.

Podcast RSS Feed Generator features

Apple’s required tags

title, description, itunes:image, language, itunes:category and itunes:explicit for the show; title, enclosure and guid for each episode.

Podcasting 2.0 tags

podcast:guid (UUIDv5 from the feed URL), locked, funding, medium, transcript, chapters, season and episode.

Live validation

Errors and warnings update as you type, using the same rules for built and pasted feeds.

Reads your audio files locally

File size in bytes and duration come from the file on your device; nothing is uploaded.

Draft saved in this browser

Close the tab and your feed is still here next time.

What Apple Podcasts requires

Source: Apple’s “A Podcaster’s Guide to RSS” and “Podcast RSS feed requirements”, checked 24 October 2026. Apple also asks for RFC 2822 dates with a time-zone offset, a GUID that never changes, a unique enclosure URL per episode, artwork of 1400–3000 px square (JPG or PNG, RGB), and plain-ASCII file names and URLs. Categories follow Apple’s current list, with exact spelling (“Kids & Family”).

Podcasting 2.0 tags explained

  • podcast:guid identifies the show for ever, even if the feed moves. It is a version-5 UUID of the feed URL without https:// and trailing slashes (namespace ead4c236-bf58-58c6-a2c6-a6b28d128cb6).
  • podcast:locked set to yes tells other platforms not to import the show without your consent.
  • podcast:funding adds a support link that apps show next to the show.
  • podcast:transcript and podcast:chapters point to a transcript (VTT, SRT, HTML, JSON or text) and a JSON chapters file you host.

Common feed mistakes

  • An enclosure length of 0 or a guess: it must be the exact file size in bytes.
  • Changing an episode’s GUID or reusing one: apps show the episode twice, or not at all.
  • Dates like 2026-10-01: RSS needs “Thu, 01 Oct 2026 09:00:00 +0000”.
  • Audio in formats Apple does not list — convert to MP3 or M4A with the podcast converter first.
  • Durations typed by hand that do not match the file: let the tool read them, or use the audio duration calculator for many files.

Podcast RSS Feed Generator FAQ

How do I create a podcast RSS feed for free?

Fill in this podcast RSS feed generator, download feed.xml, upload it with your audio to any web host, and submit the feed URL to Apple Podcasts and other directories.

Does this tool host my podcast?

No. It writes and checks the XML only. You host the feed, artwork and audio files yourself, and you must keep them online.

How do I validate my podcast RSS feed?

Choose Check an existing feed, paste the XML or open the file, and press Check feed. Errors are things Apple requires; warnings are recommended tags or doubtful values.

What should the GUID be?

Any unique text that never changes — a UUID is ideal. New episodes get a random UUID automatically; do not change it after publishing.

Why does my feed need the file size?

The enclosure length tells apps how big the download is. Use Fill size and duration from the audio file to get the exact number of bytes.

Can I include my e-mail address?

Only if you want: itunes:owner is optional and public in the feed. Some directories use it to verify you own the show.
