What eDPI is and how to calculate it
eDPI (effective DPI) is your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. It folds two settings into one number, so two players in the same game can compare how fast they aim even if one uses 400 DPI and the other 1600. This eDPI calculator works it out for Valorant, CS2, Fortnite and the other games in our sensitivity table — or for any game.
Because eDPI only compares settings within one game, the tool also converts your setting into cm/360 — the distance you move the mouse for a full turn — places it on a band from very high to very low sensitivity, lists the sensitivity that gives the same eDPI at other DPIs, and compares your setup with another one.
How to use the eDPI calculator
- Enter your mouse DPI (also called CPI) from your mouse software.
- Enter your in-game sensitivity exactly as shown in the game’s settings.
- Choose your game to see cm/360, inches per 360° and your sensitivity band. Choose “Any game” for eDPI alone.
- Changing DPI? Read the sensitivity that keeps the same eDPI from the table.
- To compare with a friend or a pro in the same game, enter their DPI and sensitivity.
eDPI Calculator features
eDPI in one step
DPI × sensitivity, updated as you type, with DPI presets.
cm/360 and inches
The physical distance of a full turn, using each game’s yaw value.
Sensitivity bands
A colour scale from very high to very low sensitivity, based on cm/360.
Same eDPI at any DPI
The sensitivity to use after switching between 400, 800, 1200, 1600 and 3200 DPI.
Setup comparison
How much faster or slower another setup is, and the sensitivity that matches it at your DPI.
The eDPI formula
eDPI = DPI × in-game sensitivity. In Valorant, 800 DPI at 0.35 sensitivity is 800 × 0.35 = 280 eDPI. 400 DPI at 0.7 is also 280, and feels the same. In CS2, 800 DPI at 1.0 is 800 eDPI, and so is 400 DPI at 2.0.
To keep your eDPI after changing DPI, divide it by the new DPI: 280 ÷ 1600 = 0.175. The table does this for the common DPI steps.
eDPI vs cm/360: comparing across games
eDPI only works inside one game, because each game turns a different number of degrees per mouse count at sensitivity 1 (its yaw). 280 eDPI in Valorant and 280 eDPI in CS2 are very different speeds. The game-independent measure is cm/360 = 360 ÷ (yaw × eDPI) × 2.54: 280 eDPI in Valorant (yaw 0.07) is 46.65 cm per turn, while 800 eDPI in CS2 (yaw 0.022) is 51.95 cm.
The yaw values come from the same table as our sensitivity converter, read from it automatically so the two tools always agree. Each is labelled as confirmed in source code, widely cited (community-measured) or unconfirmed. To move your setting to a different game, use the converter.
Sensitivity bands (rule of thumb)
These bands are a community rule of thumb, not a standard, and there is no correct sensitivity. We do not show pro-player averages: the figures published by community sites change often and we could not verify them (checked 19 October 2026).
| cm per 360° | Band | Typical feel |
|---|---|---|
| under 20 | Very high | Wrist flicks; hard to hold small targets |
| 20–35 | High | Mostly wrist aim; common in fast-paced play |
| 35–55 | Medium | Wrist and arm; a common range in tactical shooters |
| 55–80 | Low | Arm aim; needs a large pad |
| 80 and over | Very low | Full-arm sweeps; precise but slow to turn |
Fortnite and percentage sliders
Some games show sensitivity as a percentage. The calculator multiplies the number exactly as you type it. Several sites write Fortnite’s 8 % as 0.08, which makes eDPI 100 times smaller — both are fine as long as you compare like with like. cm/360 is the same either way.
Not sure your mouse really runs at the DPI on the box? Measure it with the mouse DPI analyzer.
eDPI Calculator FAQ
What is eDPI?
Effective DPI: mouse DPI × in-game sensitivity. It lets players in the same game compare sensitivity across different DPI settings.
How do I calculate eDPI in Valorant?
Multiply DPI by your Valorant sensitivity. 800 DPI × 0.35 = 280 eDPI.
How do I calculate eDPI in CS2?
Multiply DPI by your CS2 sensitivity. 400 DPI × 2 = 800 eDPI, the same as 800 DPI × 1.
Can I compare eDPI between Valorant and CS2?
No — each game uses a different yaw. Compare cm/360 instead, or convert with the sensitivity converter (CS2 sensitivity ≈ Valorant sensitivity × 3.18).
What is a good eDPI?
There is no single best value. Look at your cm/360: many players in tactical shooters sit in the medium band (about 35–55 cm per turn), but comfort and mouse-pad size matter more.
Does higher DPI mean better aim?
Not on its own. At the same eDPI, 800 and 1600 DPI move your view the same distance; higher DPI only splits each movement into smaller steps.
