Tractor loan EMI with half-yearly and harvest instalments
Farm income arrives at harvest, not on the 5th of every month, so banks usually let farmers repay tractor and farm machinery loans in half-yearly or quarterly instalments timed to the rabi and kharif harvests, or yearly. Ordinary EMI calculators only work monthly. This tractor loan EMI calculator works out the instalment for any of the four frequencies, dates each one to the harvest month you choose, and shows how much the choice of frequency changes the interest.
Enter the tractor’s on-road price with implements, the margin you pay, the bank’s rate and tenure. It also works for power tillers, harvesters, rotavators, pumps and other farm equipment, in rupees or dollars. Everything runs in your browser; it is an estimate, not financial advice or a sanction.
How to use the Tractor Loan EMI Calculator
- Enter the price and the margin (down payment) your bank asks for.
- Enter the interest rate and the tenure in years.
- Choose monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly repayment and the month the first instalment falls due — for example April after the rabi harvest.
- If the bank compounds interest monthly, or the first instalment comes later than one period, set those options.
- Read the instalment, total interest and last due date; compare frequencies in the table and download the schedule.

How a half-yearly tractor loan instalment is calculated
With k instalments a year the rate for each instalment is i = annual rate ÷ k, and the instalment is loan × i ÷ (1 − (1 + i)−n), where n = years × k. Interest each period is the outstanding balance × i; the rest repays principal. If your bank calculates interest monthly and compounds it, the period rate is (1 + rate ÷ 12)12 ÷ k − 1 instead.
Example: a ₹8,50,000 tractor with a 15% margin needs a loan of ₹7,22,500. At 10% a year over 5 years, half-yearly, i = 5% and n = 10, so each instalment is ₹93,567.06, due in April and October. Paid monthly, the same loan costs ₹15,351 a month and less interest, because principal is repaid sooner; half-yearly instalments suit farm cash flow but cost a little more.
Typical tractor loan terms in India
- Margin: often 10–25% of the price; Indian Overseas Bank, for example, asks 15–25% above ₹2 lakh.
- Tenure: up to about 9 years for tractors (Indian Bank allows 18 half-yearly instalments) and 7 years for power tillers and harvesters.
- Security: the tractor is hypothecated to the bank; larger loans may need land as collateral.
- Terms read on 24 October 2026; rates change, so enter your bank’s current offer.
Tractor loan or Kisan Credit Card?
A tractor loan is a term loan. Short-term crop loans are drawn through the Kisan Credit Card, which can carry interest subvention for prompt repayment; tractor term loans are usually charged at the bank’s own rate. Check your crop-loan limit with the Kisan Credit Card loan calculator, plan income with the crop yield calculator, and for an ordinary monthly loan use the EMI calculator.
Tractor Loan EMI Calculator FAQ
How is a half-yearly EMI calculated?
Divide the annual rate by 2 for the rate per instalment, set n = years × 2, and apply the annuity formula loan × i ÷ (1 − (1 + i)^−n).
What is the half-yearly instalment on a ₹7.2 lakh tractor loan at 10% for 5 years?
About ₹93,567 on a ₹7,22,500 loan: ten instalments, ₹2,13,171 of interest in total.
Is half-yearly repayment cheaper than monthly?
No — it usually costs a little more interest because the balance falls more slowly, but it matches harvest income.
Can the first instalment be delayed?
Many banks allow a grace period; the interest for it is normally added to the loan or collected with the first instalment.
Does it work for other farm machinery or in the US?
Yes. Use it for harvesters, tillers and implements, and switch to dollars for US farm equipment loans with annual or semi-annual payments.
Is this financial advice?
No. It is an estimate from the figures you enter. Your bank’s sanction letter is final.
