Personal Color Analysis – Free Seasonal Color Quiz & Drape Preview

Answer eight questions to find your colour season among the 12, see its palette and try colours on your own photo.

For fun and style ideas. Colour analysis is an informal styling tradition, not a science or a medical test, and different analysts disagree. Screens, lighting and photo filters change how colours look, so treat the result as a starting point.

Color analysis quiz with a drape preview

Seasonal color analysis sorts people into seasons by the temperature, depth and clarity of their natural colouring, then suggests clothes and makeup colours to match. This free color analysis quiz asks eight questions about your veins, jewellery, hair, eyes and contrast, places you among the 12 seasons and shows a palette.

You can also load a photo and drape palette colours under your neck, or split the picture to compare a flattering colour with one to go easy on. The photo is drawn on a canvas inside your browser and is never uploaded. It is a styling game, not a scientific test.

How to use the Personal Color Analysis (Seasonal)

  1. Answer at least five of the eight questions; “Not sure” is always allowed.
  2. Read your season, the three axis bars and the closest neighbouring season.
  3. Browse the palette, or pick a season yourself from the list if you already know it.
  4. Optionally drop a well-lit photo, click palette colours to drape them, and use the split view to compare.
  5. Copy the palette or download the drape picture.

How the quiz works

Each answer nudges three scores: temperature (cool to warm), depth (light to deep) and chroma (soft to clear). The scores are scaled by the largest possible value for each, and the 12-season system names the season by the strongest of the three: when temperature leads, you land in a “True” season; when depth leads, a Light or Deep one; when chroma leads, a Soft or Bright one. Warm results fall in Spring or Autumn and cool ones in Summer or Winter.

The questions, the weights and the sample palettes are this page’s own illustrative choices, as colour analysis has no official standard and analysts draw the lines differently. A balanced temperature score makes the result a first guess, and the page shows the closest neighbouring season to try as well.

Using the drape preview

Use a photo taken in natural daylight, facing a window, without makeup, filters or coloured walls behind you. Click a palette colour and look at how your skin, eyes and hair respond: a flattering colour makes your face look even and awake, while a poor one can bring out shadows or redness. Compare it with a “go easy on” colour using the split view. Your phone or monitor may shift colours, so double-check with real fabric if you can. For picking colours see the color picker.

Tips for a fair result

Answer the quiz in daylight, looking at your bare skin rather than your tan or makeup, and use your natural hair colour, not a dyed one. Grey or white hair changes contrast, so answer for how you looked before it, or choose “Not sure”. If two seasons keep coming up, they are neighbours on the same axis; try both palettes on your photo and keep the colours that look best. Use the palette as a guide for clothes, glasses, hair and makeup, not as a rule.

Personal Color Analysis (Seasonal) FAQ

How do I find my colour season?

Answer the quiz about your veins, jewellery, hair, eyes and contrast. The strongest of the temperature, depth and clarity scores names your season among the 12.

How many seasons are there?

The 12-season system splits Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter into three each, such as Light, True and Bright Spring.

Is online colour analysis accurate?

It is a styling guide, not a science. Lighting, screens and the analyst’s method all change the result. Treat it as a way to experiment.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The picture is drawn on a canvas in your browser and never leaves your device.

What if my answers are all “Not sure”?

Then there is not enough information. Answer at least five questions, or choose a season from the list yourself.

Can men use it?

Yes. Colour analysis applies to everyone’s natural colouring, whether for clothes, glasses or hair.
