Crypto Leverage Calculator – Futures PnL & ROE

Profit, ROE %, fees and funding for a leveraged crypto long or short, with break-even and target exit prices.

Leverage multiplies losses as well as gains. A 10× position loses its whole margin on a 10% move against it, and the exchange liquidates before that. Arithmetic for the prices you type — not trading advice.

Linear (USDT- or USD-margined) contracts. Rows marked “margin gone” are past the point where the margin is used up — in practice the liquidation price is reached first. For changing funding rates use the funding rate calculator.

How the crypto leverage calculator works

A leveraged crypto futures position controls more coin than the margin you put up. This crypto leverage calculator works out what that means in money: the profit or loss (PnL) of a long or short trade between an entry and an exit price, the return on equity (ROE) on your margin, and how much of the result goes on trading fees and funding. It also gives the break-even exit after costs, the exit you would need for a target ROE, and a table of PnL for moves of 1% to 20% either way.

You can size the trade as margin × leverage (for example 1,000 USDT at 10×) or as a number of coins. Prices can be in USDT, US dollars, rupees, pounds or euros, and for USDT trades an optional rupee rate shows the result in ₹ as well. Everything is typed by you and calculated in your browser; nothing is fetched from an exchange.

The page is arithmetic, not trading advice. Leveraged products can lose your whole margin quickly, and in some countries they are restricted for retail traders.

How to use the Crypto Leverage Calculator

  1. Choose Long or Short, and whether you enter the size as margin × leverage or in coins.
  2. Type the entry price, the exit (or current mark) price and the leverage.
  3. Add your trading fee per side and, if you held through funding times, the funding rate and the number of payments.
  4. Optionally set a target ROE to get the exit price that reaches it, and a rupee rate to see the PnL in ₹.
  5. Read the net PnL, ROE, break-even exit and the price-move table, then copy the result.

Crypto Leverage Calculator features

PnL and ROE together

Net profit in money and as a percentage of the margin, before and after costs.

Fees on both legs

The fee rate is charged on the position value when you open and again when you close.

Funding included

Funding paid or received over the payments you held, with the sign set by your side.

Break-even and target exits

Closed-form exit prices for zero net PnL and for any ROE you choose.

Net PnL and ROE for ±1%, 2%, 5%, 10% and 20% moves, flagging where the margin is used up.

The formulas

For a linear (USDT- or USD-margined) contract an exchange help centre gives PnL = size × direction × (exit − entry), with direction +1 for a long and −1 for a short, and ROI = PnL ÷ entry margin, where the entry margin is size × entry ÷ leverage (checked 24 October 2026). Its “ROI including fees” adds the commissions and funding to the PnL first, which is the net ROE shown here.

Fees are fee rate × (entry value + exit value). Funding is position value × funding rate × number of payments; a positive rate means longs pay. Some exchanges show ROE against the margin at the current mark price, so their figure can differ slightly.

Worked example: 1,000 USDT margin at 10× buys a 10,000 USDT position, 0.1667 BTC at 60,000. BTC rises 5% to 63,000: gross PnL is 0.1667 × 3,000 = 500 USDT, a 50% ROE. Fees at 0.05% on 10,000 opening and 10,500 closing cost 10.25 USDT, and nine funding payments at 0.01% cost 9 USDT, so the net PnL is 480.75 USDT, a 48.08% ROE. A 5% fall would have lost about the same — and a 10% fall would have used up the whole margin.

Leverage, ROE and liquidation

  • ROE ≈ price move × leverage. A 2% move at 25× is a 50% gain or loss on margin before costs.
  • Costs scale with the position, not the margin. At 50× a 0.05% fee per side is 5% of your margin for the round trip.
  • Liquidation comes before the margin runs out. The exchange closes the position when the remaining margin falls to the maintenance margin. The “whole margin lost” price here is the bankruptcy level; use the crypto liquidation price calculator for the real trigger with your exchange’s maintenance rate.
  • Funding changes every interval. For a list of real rates use the funding rate calculator.

Spot trades, lot sizes and tax

For an unleveraged buy and sell, including India’s 30% tax and 1% TDS on crypto, use the crypto profit calculator. For CFD lots on MetaTrader-style platforms see the crypto lot size calculator, and for stock and commodity futures the futures calculator. Rules differ by country — in the UK, for example, the FCA’s ban on selling crypto derivatives to retail consumers took effect on 6 January 2021.

Crypto Leverage Calculator FAQ

How do you calculate profit with leverage in crypto?

Profit = position size × (exit − entry) for a long, or × (entry − exit) for a short, minus fees and funding. The position size is margin × leverage ÷ entry price. Leverage does not change the profit per coin; it lets a smaller margin hold more coins.

What is ROE in crypto futures?

Return on equity: the PnL divided by the initial margin. At 10× leverage, a 5% price move gives about a 50% ROE before costs.

Do fees apply to the margin or the whole position?

To the whole position value, on both opening and closing. That is why high leverage makes fees a large share of your margin.

What is the break-even price for a leveraged trade?

The exit at which the gain just covers fees and funding. For a long it is slightly above entry, for a short slightly below; the calculator solves it exactly.

Does this crypto leverage calculator show the liquidation price?

It shows where the margin would be fully used up. The exchange liquidates earlier, at the maintenance margin — use the liquidation price calculator for that.

Is this trading advice?

No. It calculates the scenario you enter. Leveraged trading can lose your entire margin.
